Gabriella was breathing hard. She listened again to his chest. A great relief rushed through her body when she felt Izaak’s faint heartbeats, sending salt streams out of her eyes. She really thought she had lost him.
When the medical staff arrived, Gabriella dried her tears and watched as they took care of Izaak. They carried Izaak on a stretcher to the ambulance.
The ambulance siren made Gabriella shudder. Usually, when she heard its siren, she would go into doctor mode, ready to assess the situation. But now, she finally wore the shoes of a guardian, crying, and on the verge of losing her sanity.
She followed behind Izaak and got inside the ambulance where Izaak lay flat on a mobile bed, his face covered with oxygen, and all indicators on the monitor were unstable.
