Chapter 14: Talfryn
“I’m touched you care enough to hold me back,” said Talfryn, yanking his wrist out of Akton’s grasp, “but this doesn’t seem like the time to stand here analyzing.”
Akton blinked at him. Talfryn saw he hadn’t realized he was being so protective, but now that Talfryn had mentioned it, Akton seemed irritated.
“I’ll explain once we’re out. Come on,” said Tinah. She turned her back on them and led the way down the corridor. Talfryn glanced back at Akton.
“I’m not leaving you.”
“It didn’t mean anything,” said Akton, pushing past him. Talfryn followed, unable to keep the slightest of smiles from his lips. He might be wary and grumpy, but Akton was all right. Talfryn certainly trusted him to have his back.
