Amber's P.O.V: It has definitely been over an hour since I heard that loud noise of thud from upstairs and until now no further movements or sounds have been made by her. What if she's dead? How will I ever leave if that f*****g i***t dies? Damn it!. I pray to any power or God or anything out there listening to me to please don't kill her just now, once I get out of these f*****g ropes, I'll kill her myself. After another long and painful duration of waiting, I heard some sounds. Ah! Thank God or whatever heard my prayer and she's not dead, just yet. I'm gonna kill that b***h myself but first I have to get out of this f*****g shithole. Sammy's P.O.V: I woke up and saw myself laying on my bathroom floor. I must have passed out. Oh s**t! The Girl. I ran downstairs, to my basement, panting and to my relief, she was still there. Guess the ropes really worked. I looked at her and somehow she is still looking at me like I'm an alien or maybe that's just the normal way she looks at people. I sat on the couch beside her and pulled her chair closer to the couch. "Listen, I'm sorry for whatever happened like minutes ago". She is still looking at me with a raised brow like I'm speaking some alien language. God! She's frustrating. "So, I am gonna try this again, I'll remove the tape from your mouth only if you assure me that you won't do another mistake again. " She groaned for a minute or two but sighed in the end. "I have to feed you and you'll die if you keep doing this". That got her to listen. Finally she nodded and I removed the tape and fortunately, the only word came out of her mouth this time was Water. I rushed to her with a glass of water "Who the f**k are you? and why the f**k have you f*****g kidnapped me?" She asked through gritted teeth. "If I were you I'd drink this water first and then talk". I placed the glass of water on her mouth and she drank like a person lost in the desert. God! She must have been really thirsty. She was drunk when I brought her here so that's an obvious reason for being so thirsty. I made sure I didn't overwhelm her with water. "Here take this medicine, it'll help with the pain from the hangover and hitting your head on my basement wall". She took it and I gave some more water to her and then sat down on the couch next to her, still watching her. This girl is something else. "So? are you going to f*****g tell me or not? why the f**k am I here? and why the f**k have you kidnapped me out of all the gazillions of people in this whole f*****g world? " she asked again. I could tell her patience was running thin. Maybe it's time to tell her. "Well, first of all, I didn't actually plan on kidnapping specifically you but it just happened. I was waiting outside this club and I wanted an easy target and a rich one, of course, so I waited beside the best car in the parking lot and then came you" I said raising my hands towards her, "then I saw you. There you were there sitting in your car looking miserable and watching something on your cell phone and I knocked on your window and you pulled it down, you were drunk, like really drunk. Before you could ask anything, I quickly applied the anesthetic cloth to your mouth and you fell asleep or more like got sedated or fainted right then and there. I thought I killed you but luckily you woke up." I tell her honestly. "Wow. I do not recall any of that" she said after a moment of thinking. She really didn't remember any of that. Well, I blame it on all the booze. "Well, I did say you were drunk. So, then I brought you here and tied you down and now here we are talking to each other, me explaining why I kidnapped you." I say smiling to which she frowns. She looks cute frowning. Damn it, Sammy, get yourself together. But she's cute. "You still left out the part where you tell me why are you doing this," she asks skeptically. I just look at her for a moment then break out of my reverie, "Oh yes, sorry my bad. So, I am in some kind of trouble right now and I really need some money to get out of it. So, here you are, kidnapped and soon to be freed by the King and I'll get my money and you can be gone within next 24-48hrs" I tell her happily. Maybe if I'm happy she'll feel better being here. "The King?" she asks dumbfounded. Oh, she doesn't know what keeps going on in my stupid brain. I have to clarify for her. "Oh yeah, see when I was tying you up I saw..... never mind. I was calling your dad King and you're his princess and he'll give me anything I want to free you and hopefully, we'll be done soon" I said. Her expression suddenly changed to sad and defeated. That's a strange look on her. "I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you" she mumbled. "What does that mean?" I asked her, not sure of sudden sadness in her voice. She looked at me, dead in the eye and said one thing I wasn't expecting at all. "My dad's dead" she said. There was pin-drop-silence for the next two mins and I kept staring at her not sure how to react and what to say. She lowered her head and I just sat there. Then I said the only thing that seemed right at the moment. "I'm... I'm sorry.." I said trying to convey my sincerity through my voice to her. She looked up then, her face held anger and sadness. "Says the one who has kidnapped me and has me tied up in her basement" she laughed at me. Her voice held venom but a hint of deeply hidden anguish. I recognize that very well. "Listen, I know what I'm doing, but it doesn't mean that I'm not a human. I'm just trying to say sorry to another human after hearing that she lost her dad" I tell her. Her face softens a bit but the anger is still there. "Well, thanks for your sorry, but it was years ago so no need." She said a bit less hostile now. Silence fell upon us again. she was quiet after that and I figured she needed time so I decided to give her some and walked upstairs to get us food. She must be hungry. When I came back sometime later with food she was still in her chair. I heard her sniffing and I realized that she was crying. I cleared my throat before speaking, "If you need more time I can come back later," I said without looking at her because I know how it feels when people stare at you while you cry. "I'm fine," she said in a rude tone still sniffing. "Well, I brought food" She looked at me then and at the food again. I can tell she was thinking about whether to eat or not. "I don't wanna eat. Just get the f**k out of here" she shouted while tears flooded out of her eyes and she stared at me. I could see she was in pain. I have seen that look in my eyes for the past several years. I see it every day I look in the mirror, and I knew what I'd need from someone if I were in her shoes. So, instead of leaving I put the food on the table in front of the couch and sat there quietly. "What the f**k are you doing? I told you to leave me the f**k alone" she growled but I sat there quietly, and then after a few minutes she broke down into sobs again. I kept my head low, not to look at her directly or to make her feel bad. I just stayed there while she cried. I moved a bit and placed my hand on hers gingerly. After some time when she was quiet, I finally looked at her. She was looking down, lost in her thoughts. I knelt in front of the chair and looked at her. She looked so broken and vulnerable, I felt something shift inside of me at the sight. I didn't like seeing her like this. "I am going to open your hands now so that you can have dinner with me. I've made dinner for us. I hope you like it. Just please don't try to do anything stupid. I know you're hungry, so let's just eat" I spoke softly giving her a genuine smile. Finally, she looked at me normally, like I wasn't some alien and her anger was replaced by tiredness. I untied her and she moved her arms and she was stretching them upfront. I was looking at her making sure she doesn't do anything stupid but I was glad when she just moved the chair towards the table and started putting food into her plate. I smiled at her, feeling something strange inside me again. It felt like warmth. Amber's P.O.V: I was literally dying of hunger and the food smelled really nice. Has she really made it herself or was she just boasting? Well, who cares. I started eating and she just sat there watching. Then she put two coke on the table and I quickly opened one and drank it. "I figured you'd be a coke person, " she said with a smirk on her face. "What is that supposed to mean ?" I asked her, raising a brow. Was she really stupid enough to insult me?. "Well, I know most people can't tell but there is a huge difference between coke and Pepsi, and I happen to love coke more. When I look at you I see a coke person" she replied, way too happy for my liking. "I am not. I like Pepsi better." I mumbled but I was lying, I have always loved coke but I won't give her the satisfaction. I ate the food and sat back in the chair as I sighed with coke still in my hand and to my surprise, she opened her coke and started eating the food from the same plate that I had. "Uh, what are you doing?" I asked her seriously confused. What the f**k was she doing? Was she gonna eat my leftover? "Eating?" she asked with a duh tone like it was the most obvious thing in the whole world. Well, it was clear but why? "Yeah I can see that but why are you eating from my plate? especially the food that I left?" This b***h is seriously getting on my nerves now. "Well, I hoped that you'd eat with me but obviously you were very hungry so you just started eating without me and I didn't want to stop you so I waited for my turn," she said. Now I feel bad. Wait, I shouldn't feel bad, I am kidnapped by her. Ugh! I hate her. "Don't you have more food? Why are you eating this?" I asked again trying to keep the annoyance out if my voice. I hate that smile on her face. "Well, that's all I made so there's nothing left except for this and I am way too hungry to just go and make some more for myself" she shrugged like it was nothing and continued eating like nothing was wrong. As much as I hated it, I felt bad for not offering her. "So, you live alone in this house ?" I asked after she finished, trying to know more about my kidnapper who seemed nothing like it. I bet it's her first time doing this, not that I'm some professional or anything. "Yep. It belongs to one of my dad's friends, they moved out of town but still didn't want to sell this house so I rented it for the time I was in college" she replied while settling in the couch. I watched her curiously, she seems like a normal girl. A good looking girl at that. Wait what? "Wait, you go to college?" I asked surprised. "Well yeah, it's not like I was born a kidnapper. I am just doing this because of....." she trailed off. There was a sudden change in her demeanor. "So, I guess, you won't tell me what s**t you're in that you keep talking about?" I asked already knowing the answer to this question. "You guessed right. I am not here to make friends, I just need the money and as soon as I get it you'll be free to go. Which reminds me, who is gonna pay for your ransom? I mean you do have guardians right? You were literally driving an Audi" she asked raising a brow at me and tilted her head to the side. If she wasn't my kidnapper I might have found that cute. I still did but deep deep deep down. "Yeah, my mom and my step-father. Although I doubt they would even realize that I'm missing " I said. They didn't care before, I bet they have no idea where I am even now. "So, we'll just have to call them and tell them" she took out my cell from her back pocket and looked at me opening its lock like it was nothing as she already knew the code, and I just looked at her with my mouth opened. She had that stupid smirk on her face again ."So which one of these is the contacts of your mother's?" she asked showing me my contact list where there were several contacts saved under the name of mom. "How did you.... well, it's useless because she is in Europe on business tour so she won't pick. Unless you kill me and send her my dead-body as a gift" I tell her. "So, you are rich. Hmm.. well, when is she coming back?" she asked while still going through my contacts. "I don't know and yes my parents are rich. My mom took over dad's company and married his partner within a year after his death and now I have to call him father so, yeah my life sucks" I said bitterly. I didn't know what she found funny but she started laughing after I said that. I kept looking at her like she had gone crazy but she kept laughing. "Your life sucks? Are you serious? You drive an Audi for crying out loud and your mom is in Europe on some business tour and I picked you up from one of the most elite clubs in the city and you are wearing branded clothes, let alone your handbag is more costly than most of us earn in a week and you say your life sucks ?" she looked at me with disbelief and I looked at her with pity. "It doesn't mean that I'm happy. I don't need all this. I never asked for any of it." I said bitterly. What does she know of my life? This b***h had no idea. Nobody has any idea what I have to go through. "Yeah, you say it because you have it all. It all came easier for you. You have never had to work different jobs just to get through your tuition fee and help your parents. You don't value it because it was given to you when you never asked for it while there are millions of people out there whose lives actually suck. People die, girls are rapped and thrown acid at, people have to live their lives suppressing their needs to fulfill their family's needs, kids are sold and God knows what and still most of them manage to be happy for whatever they are. so I'll say, your life is pretty good, you suck at living it." She said it all in a single breath and stormed out of the basement and somehow I was struck with her words. Suddenly I found myself thinking over every word she just said. After a few mins, she came in with a pillow in her hand and a blanket and cleared the couch for me. "You can sleep here and don't make any noises, this basement is soundproof. There are water and some snacks at the table behind you and you're welcome to play my Xbox if you know how to," She said without glancing at me and before I could say anything she was gone. The rest of the night, for as long as I can remember, I spent thinking about what she said. This girl who has me locked in her basement managed to affect me with her words, made me stop and think. I don't remember being affected by someone's words this much. Slowly the sleep came over me and I drifted away.
