As the group explored further into the Darkwood, the atmosphere became increasingly tense, broken only by the occasional rustling of leaves and distant animal calls. The shadows seemed to move around them, and the air grew cooler. Lilith shivered and glanced around nervously at the towering trees that seemed to close in tighter with each step. "Stay alert," Gray advised, his voice low but firm. "The Blood Lotus is said to be guarded by more than just the forest itself." Just then, the ground beneath them shook slightly, and a low growl echoed through the trees. Orion smiled, his confidence unwavering. "What was that? A little monster? I hope it's something worth my time." "Or maybe it'll eat you alive," Gray quipped, a smug grin on his face. "Let's see if your charm can save you then." Gray rolled his eyes, but a hint of a smile tugged at his lips. "Enough talk. We need to move." The path twisted and turned, leading them to a clearing surrounded by ancient stones, each etched with strange runes. In the center lay a shallow pool whose surface shimmered with an unusual iridescence. "This must be it," Gray said, sounding a little amazed. "The pool of visions. It's said to reveal the path to the Blood Lotus." "Pool of visions?" Orion couldn't help but smile. "Sounds a bit underwhelming." "I'd like to see what this thing can do," Orion said as he stepped forward. "I'll go first." He knelt beside the pool with complete confidence in order to show off and get noticed as his reflection rippled when he leaned closer. The water suddenly glowed brightly, and a vision appeared. It showed images of the Blood Lotus blooming in a hidden grove, surrounded by thorny vines and guarded by fierce creatures. "Is this the blood lotus?" Orion wondered. "It seems more real than I thought. It's to the north, just beyond those hills!" "Wait a minute," Gray said, but Orion had already turned and started walking in the direction he had seen. "Let's follow him," Gray said, his eyes narrowed. "We can't let him go alone." As they hurried after him, Lilith felt a knot of anxiety in her stomach. "What if he can't handle the creatures?" "If that's the case, we'll be there to help," Gray replied, his voice steady. "Let's stay together." As the terrain became increasingly treacherous, they continued to climb the hills. Thorny vines snaked across the ground, and the air thickened with an ominous energy. Just as they reached the summit, they heard a series of snarls. A pack of wild creatures emerged from the underbrush—sharp-toothed and as they glared, their eyes gleamed with hunger. "Back!" Gray shouted and positioned himself protectively in front of Lilith and Jane. "Get ready to fight!" The group broke apart as the creatures rushed forward. Orion was still full of bravado and tried to fend them off, but he quickly found himself overwhelmed. "I can handle this!" "These guys think they can take me down," he said, swinging wildly. "Stay focused!" Gray called out as he moved in to lend a hand. He hit one of the creatures with precision and sent it sprawling. "Let's work together!" Ronan fought alongside them, his movements smooth and precise. He quickly took out one of the beasts and many more without any trouble, thanks to his huge blade. But the numbers were against them. Lilith's heart started racing when she saw one of the creatures about to pounce on Jane. "Look out!" she yelled, and in a flash, she grabbed a nearby branch and swung it with all her might. The creature was caught off guard and stumbled back, giving Jane the chance to escape. "Nice move, Lilith!" Jane said, her eyes wide with surprise. "Keep moving!" Gray urged, his focus unwavering. "We can't let them corner us!" At last, after what seemed like an age, the last creature fell, out of breath and beaten. Orion looked around at the group, out of breath and a little shaken. "Okay, that was a bit intense," he admitted, though his confidence faltered. He held his head high, though. "Let's keep going," Gray said, brushing dirt from his clothes. They continued on the path Orion saw and reached a hidden grove bathed in ethereal light. In the center, a single Blood Lotus bloomed, its petals glimmering like rubies in the sunlight. "At last," one of the participants said, sounding impressed. "We've found it." "Just wait a minute," Orion replied. "I'll go first." But before he could reach it, Gray stopped him. "Let's be careful. The legends say it's protected by magic." "Do you really believe those fairy tales?" Orion replied. "Let me handle it," Gray said, stepping forward with confidence. He had always been a master of strategy and skill, and he approached the flower with caution. "Ha- you really are funny." Orion stopped him. "You don't really think I'm going to let you take it and return as the winner?" "What do you mean by that?" Gray shot back. "He's right." Another participant spoke up. "We all found the blood lotus, so let's fight each other to get it. It'll be fair." "Yes," And so the debate continued until someone finally lost their cool and started a fight. Everyone was trying to get the blood lotus for themselves, while Ronan, who was pretty unfazed by the whole thing, just leaned against the wall at the entrance. Lilith and Jane stood by the side and avoided the fight as well, while Gray tried to calm things down. Zach, who had been following silently, sat down with his hands folded and a smirk on his face. "Interesting. What a waste of time," he said, then shook his head before he bit a leaf and watched the show.
