Chapter 1

Larissa P.O.V: Walking through the halls of school this morning, you could feel the tension in the air. Students who attended this school were mostly bragging about the ceremony that will occur at the packhouse tonight. The ceremony is extremely special for most of us because tonight, we get to meet our Alpha and most importantly, our Luna. Our school is different from other schools. Our school were a mix of two kinds. Ninety per cent of the school population was filled with werewolves and the other ten per cent, humans. Our school is different because we allowed humans to mingle with us werewolves. Other schools would not allow humans to mix with werewolves and if I had to guess. It may be because of our strength and power. which, would be lethal for humans if they ever crossed us. Though it has been eight years since the last human crossed us and they have never done it since. I am normally the shy, quiet girl who rather sits in the corner and reads than mingle with people. I come to realise that if I didn't bother them, they wouldn't bother me. Which is the way I liked it. Students filled each gap within the halls, which made making my way towards my locker a mission. Finally, after a few ducks and turns, I made it to my locker. Breathing out a sigh of relief while unlocking my locker. A group of girls who stood nearby were talking very loud. It was hard for me not to ears drop into the conversation. The girls were asking each other all sorts or questions but the main one was what they were planning to wear to the ceremony tonight. One girl was planning on wearing a pink flow dress that fell above her knees with white heels. The other girl mentioned wearing a black shimmery dress that would drape down to her feet and the other three still had not made up their minds about what they were going to wear. I have never been to one of these things before, so I wouldn't have the slightest hint either about what to wear tonight. Plus even if I did, I don't have the funds to buy a dress. I thought about asking them while stuffing my books and bag into the locker but If I did and my sisters found out. Not only would my sisters hurt me. They will destroy these poor girls. My sisters were known around school as the devil twins. Ones who could make your school days a living hell. Sharia, she was the boss. She was strong, powerful and beautiful. If she told you to jump off the school roof. You had to jump or else she will push you off and make it look like an accident. Serene, was the follower. Whatever Sharia did, she does also. She was also mean but not as mean as Sharia. Though, when you put them both together. It was like living in hell. Having them as sisters. You could only imagine how my life at home was like... hell. Before I closed my locker, I placed my lunch into my locker and a few assignments then made my way towards my first class. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like today if Martha was here. Martha was my best friend since I was five years old and if she was here, I know she would be designing my dress for tonight. She was very intelligent, creative and very skilled with a pair of scissors, pin, needle and fabric. It's days like this when I need my best friend. Martha would know what I should wear tonight. Especially it is the biggest event but unfortunately, she's no longer here with us today. About two years ago Martha and her little sister were killed by rogues and to this day I have no idea what exactly happened to them. That, only they were both killed by rogues. Some say she deserved it and others refused to talk about it. Her parents left the pack as well. So, no one knows what happened to her or her little sister. Only that they were killed by rogues. Just thinking about it brings water to my eyes. Almost making it to class. I heard my name been shouted out behind me. "Hey, Larissa! Hey! Wait up!" It said. Forcing me to stop in my tracks. I glanced around as I turned my body to face where the voice was coming from. My eyes widen in shock. "Tommy?" I whispered. Tommy is one of the school football players, who happened to be Serene's ex-boyfriend. So, the fact he was speaking to me or looking at me. I knew this was either one of two things. One, Serene and Sharia don't know or two; he was stupid. I am guessing he's pretty stupid. Sharia ordered everyone at school not to talk, look or smell in my direction. So, the fact he was running up to me right now. Tells me he is really stupid. "Are you coming to the ceremony tonight?" he asked. My gaze instantly fell onto his lips. Dumbfounded that it's me he is talking to. He asked the question again but this time waving his hands in front of my face, "Hello? Larissa? I asked, are you coming to the ceremony tonight?". I took a deep breath in, shook my head, turned back around and power walked towards my classroom. Once I was in, sitting at my assigned desk. I plopped down the books and rested my head on top. "What is wrong with him?" I thought to myself, 'Did my sisters give him permission to talk to me or something? Why did he decide only today was OK to approach me'. Still reeling from what happened, students began to make their way into class and towards their assigned seats. Suddenly, the words 'Ceremony' in Tommy's voice replayed like a scratched disk playing in my head. 'Oh boy, What was I going to wear tonight? What exactly do you wear to these kinds of these things. Just thinking about it, is making my head hurt. Once everyone settled into their assigned seats, class started to begin. "Good Morning everybody. Can you all open up your books to page 42 please!" Mr Cameron announced. We all done what he said and proceeded to read through the chapter given. As I was reading, I overheard talks about our new Alpha. "Yes! He hasn't found his mate yet" One of the girls whispered to the girl beside her. My eyes darted towards them. "Do you think we will get to meet our new Luna tonight?" The girl replied. "We already know who our new Luna is going to be..." She replied, switching her gaze to me then back to her friend she was having a conversation with. "Sharia!" She smiled, causing the other girl to smile before glancing back at me. My eyes flicked back down to the words I stopped reading at. 'Sharia!' I thought to myself angrily. Just thinking about her being our new Luna is setting my blood to boil. She would run our pack to the ground if she became our new Luna. "No!" I snapped a little too loudly causing everyone to gaze up at me. "Was there something wrong Larissa?" Our teacher asked. "No, sorry Miss!" I replied, hanging my head low. Hoping this class would end right now. The girls who were whispering earlier started giggling quietly. During each class I had; lunch and break all I could think about is our new Alpha Marcus Black. Marcus is like a walking s*x god. The first time I met him was the day my mother and I went grocery shopping. It was a Wednesday afternoon when my mother and I decided to do some grocery shopping. A rare thing because my mother worked two jobs. Most time she worked double, depending on how many babies need to be delivered. Normally, she would leave my sisters in charge of food. Which was pizza, pizza and more pizza. If I was lucky I was allowed two slices. One slice for dinner, half a slice for breakfast and the other half for lunch. In most cases, I only got one slice and fruit or bread. Casual walking beside my mum around the store grabbing whatever we needed to get. A gust of wind blew in causing shivers down my back. That's when I first felt the presence of the most powerful family walk in. The black family. First to walk into the store was the Alpha Carlos Rivera Black, beside him, his wife and Luna, Arkzovey Margaret Black and their son Marcus Black. I couldn't help but stare. Just their whole Aurora prevailed. A family who can not be touched. A family I would love to be apart of. Instead of being this quiet, powerless girl. My mother decided to choose the time I was ogling the family to make her appearance known. "Alpha! Luna! Marcus! How are you all today?" She smiled, extending her hand out to Alpha Carl, then to Luna Arkzovey, then to Marcus. They all smiled, returning her handshake with a nod too. "We are well doc and how are you today? Who may this be?" She questioned and I smiled. "I am great today and this here is one of my daughters, Larissa, she replied,' Larissa this is our Alpha, Luna and their son Marcus". They all nodded, said their hello's and smiled, except Marcus who was still attached to his phone. I glanced between my mother and his parents before my gaze landed on Marcus. Who, I'm pretty sure didn't notice me. Since his eyes have been glued to his phone the moment he walked in. As my mother and his parents began talking. I decided to swallow a can of courage and try to talk to Marcus. "Uh, hmm... Uh hello!" I mumbled. "Hey!" He said quickly, eyes still on the screen in front of him. "Well, I am Larissa. Nice to meet you!" I said and he nodded. Right now this conversation is pointless I thought. Deciding to walk away, I felt a strong pair of warm hands grip my arm. Electricity jolting from his hands up my arm to my shoulder caused my body to tremble at his touch. I spun around to face him and when I did. My heartfelt like it was about to burst out my chest. While butterflies fluttered around in my tummy. His sparkling green eyes bored into mine as if he was seeing me for the first time. I have never felt this feeling before and I knew then I did not want it to stop. "Oh hey!" He said, smiling from ear to ear. My gaze fell to his lips, his teeth before making it slowly to his eyes. I could feel my cheeks beginning to redden. If only this floor would open up now and swallow me whole. "Uh Hey!" I managed to get out before snapping my eyes to my feet. "Come on son! Time to go!" Luna Arkzovey announced. Thankful to hear her voice. Marcus gave me a quick smile and a wink before taking off to follow his parents. I smiled back before my body started to tremble. I thought my knees were going to give out. Until I heard Marcus's voice call out my name. I snapped around to face him and just then my face felt like fire. I quickly smiled before looking away. He must have caught my face burning red because I could hear him laughing to himself. 'Floor if you are listening. Please open up and eat me' I said to myself before glancing back at him and giving him a wave goodbye. The day was the first time I ever felt happiness since Martha died and it was all because of a boy. Not just any boy, our soon to be Alpha. I honestly hope Marcus isn't mates with Sharia and I hope she does not become Luna at all. Arriving at my last class for the day. More whispers began to form in class but this time it was about how our soon to be Alpha has now found his Luna and that we will get to meet her tonight at the ceremony. 'Here's wishing it ain't Sharia' I mumbled to myself. As I began to copy what was written on the whiteboard in front of me. My mind kept slipping back to the thought of Sharia being our Luna. I hope she is not our new Luna.
