Chapter Seventeen “I didn’t mean for that to happen.” Adalia stood before Trent with her arms at her side and her head bowed slightly. She was cowed. DeShawn had ruined too much of their business and interfered in her life. “I don’t want to talk about this,” he replied, pouring himself a shot of whiskey behind his bar in the mansion. He downed it, then glugged more of the golden liquid into the glass. “I’m tired of talking, seeing and even thinking about goddamn DeShawn.” He didn’t even sound that angry, just defeated and that made it so much worse.
