She was ignoring him. Steele hid his smile as the pretty little thing in the next cage deliberately turned her back with a huff. Max, she’d said her name was Max. Unusual name, but it suited her. He watched her from the corner of his eye as she studied her cage. She was tiny, compared to him at least, with curves that would tempt a saint and dark chocolate eyes that pulled at the soul he didn’t have anymore. She looked up and the cloud of dark curls around her head flowed like water. An irritated flick stopped a stray curl sticking to her lips, the move so absent she obviously performed it multiple times a day. His gaze caressed her delicate features, elfin in nature, noting the big eyes, the button nose and the full lips before focusing on the firm set of her jaw. The pulse flickering
