The head hit the ground with a dull thump somewhere behind him. He batted the claws out from between his ribs as he dropped the body, still twitching, at his feet. With a grimace, he wiped the mess from his face. It was dead, disgusting stuff with none of the vitality of the blood of a living creature. Another indication they were against the natural order of things. Something unnatural and perverse. He looked down at the body without emotion. He should really burn it to avoid contaminating the environment but he didn’t have the time. He didn’t know how many of them there were, and Max’s safety took precedence.
