The house was shabby like there were no humans inhibiting in it the porch of flowers all dried due it less watering or no watering at all it gave some creepy feelings but this was where Alexis had asked him to stop she came out and heaved out a heavy sigh like she was letting out a burden through her sigh
" I'll go in alone you stay here " she said
" No ma'am it's risky here "Paxton said looking around at high alert
" This is the place I am most safe do not worry Paxton " she said as she walked on the way his name sounded on her lips with the half smile that followed warmed even the strongest of heart and surely soothed his as he watched her walk through the front yard to the door not taking his eyes off her for one second.

At the door she was received by a lowly looking lady who's smile brightened at the sight of Alexis i wondered who they were and what relationship Alexis shared with them
Few moments later my phone rang it was Alfredo calling he must have confirmed from Rita that Alexis was not at the company
" Where is my wife? " his horse voice boomed across the line
"She's having lunch at a restaurant right now " I said
"With who if I may ask? And where ?" He said his voice still showing signs of tension
" Alone and at the mexican restaurant right across the street" I said and he seemed a little relieved just before he said
" Take pictures now " and cut the call okayyyyyy that wasn't so great I needed to inform Alexis and I can't do that from standing in front of the car
Summoning courage I walked to the door and knocked
It swung open revealing the same face that opened it for her earlier
" I need to speak with her " I said as she ushered me right in seated on a chair she was laughing so freely with zero care in the world across her sat an old looking man but with a very familiar smile one that sent shivers down my spine although I couldn't place the chord of familiarity if you ask me, but he was making her laugh I haven't seen her like this in my few weeks of working here
So happy
So free
So light hearted this I couldn't bring myself to stop from going on just watching her smile brought me a calm feeling.
" Isn't she beautiful ?" The lady said beside me that I was shocked out of my lost self
" Yes she is quite indeed " I nodded in affirmation
" I just hope she will always be this happy always but that man she's married to is such a demon I can't believe he almost tried to kill her again in the name of sleeping with her" the woman said her voice carrying so much rage.
" Okayyyyyy" I said slightly uncomfortable wasn't she letting too much out I mean Isn't Alexis s****l life with Alfredo private or rather should be
" If your heart calls to her answer it before it's too late " she said again patting my arm lightly and smiling at me then went ahead to whisper something to Alexis ears that caused her to turn in my direction
" Your husband called " I said and at once the smile on her face faded away and she became quite edgy
" I'll be going now please so take care of him well I'll have somethings sent by midnight " she said to that lady and walked past me
" Be happy" the lady said as she smiled at me I couldn't tell if she was talking to me or Alexis she was one hell a wired one

Alfredo was tensed everyone in the board room could see it but no one dared question him he kept stealing glances at his phone to see a message from Paxton but nothing yet could it be that Alexis was up to something he had no idea about he began to wonder if assigning a bodyguard was a good idea in the first place
" Sorry am late traffic " Alexis voice caught his attention as she gracefully walked into the meeting room and took a seat next to him smiling at him a smile he couldn't pin point if it was a genuine one or a I'll kill you smile whatever the case was she was here and he was safe
" Where have you been " he whispered to her ears
" Taking lunch " she said calmly looking as perfect as ever this was one out of so many reasons he hated her she was just too perfect
The meeting held with Alexis taking the lime light and soon it was over
" You are such a wonderful woman and to be blessed with such a wonderful husband" Caren a partner in the upcoming project said beaming with smiles
"Well what can I say miss Caren your being too kind" Alexis said
" Am sure you both are the right choice to head this project that's why am not bothered one bit " she said as she hugged her and left
" Have you been seeing someone?" Alfredo voice hoavered above her ears
" None out of my work jurisdiction" she replied and turned to go
" Paxton " Alfredo called out as he walked Alexis down the hall
" What did I say about keeping me informed" he asked as Paxton brought out his smashed phone
"Broke while I tried to take a pic, careless street kids " he said in a relaxed manner that it was so hard not to believe him
" Thanks for saving me Paxton " Alexis said as she sat in her office her eyes savouring his calm nature her mind racing back to when he smashed his phone on the floor
" Your phone ?" She exclaimed in suprise
" I need a perfect excuse why I couldn't send a picture " he said staring directly into her eyes that it made her heart leap looking away she turned towards the building he was just doing his job she had tried to convince herself but looking at him now somewhere somehow she hoped he wasn't
" It's nothing ma'am " he said as she relaxed
" No one must know where we went to today it's sealed between both of us " she said again in a more like threatening tone
" May I ask who those people were ?" Paxton asked
" It's actually none of your business " she said and turned away

The Cortez Family House
Mr Cortez paced around uneasy he couldn't believe his ears
" How is he alive?, you said he died. " Mr Cortez said in rage as he stared at Mr Brandon his eyes filled with fury
" I don't know he was confirmed dead on the scenes when I left two years ago " Mr Brandon said
" What about your daughter is she aware that he is alive " Mr Cortez asked
" No I made sure she doesn't hear the news " Mr Brandon said
" Good we have to intensify our search looking for him as fast as possible before he comes in public view this is dangerous for the company and for us " He said his eyes directly locked in Mr Brandon's
" If it goes down the drain you go down with it " Mr Cortez said as he stormed out of the study
His father who was supposed to be dead has just being confirmed either living or his body was moved he couldn't risk it
His father being alive was much a horror than he could imagine he needed to find a way out just then he thought of his son his biggest secret
He always knew somewhere that Alfredo wasn't gonna take over his company he was such a wimp, it was time to bring his son back but that was gonna be hard after 25 years of neglect he was sure he had zero chance but there was no harm in trying he couldn't afford to leave his company in the hands of just anybody after going through the knife to secure it

The drive home was a quiet one Rita had begged to go home early due to some home issues
" Should I turn on some music?" Paxton asked
" If you have something nice to play " she said and he turned up the music it was a calm song by Billie Ellish
" I love this song " Alexis said softly and Paxton smiled he knew she did, he heard her sing the song in class during one of their musical assignments and she said it was her favourite song and he never seemed to forget it
" Tomorrow is Saturday you could take the day off " she said
" As you wish ma'am although I won't mind being around you all day * he said before he could stop himself but she said nothing and just cracked a smile although it was half it made an impact that's was one step

"Your father called " Greg said as soon as Paxton stepped in
"What does he want ?" Paxton asked his once vibrant face twisted in a frown
"Said he wants to see you" Greg said as he threw a dart on the dartboard
" Well I don't wanna see him" Paxton said as he pulled his shirt off
" You know they have to see you one day " Greg said
" Well that day is not gonna be anytime soon "

Paxton face scruched into a tight frown his father
Mr Cortez after abandoning his mother for the past 25 years thought he would just walk back into their lives
Well too bad that was not gonna happen
He thought about his mom and all she went through and how Cortez had pushed him away when he had gone looking for him some years back
And now he wants to walk into a life the almost ruined
