Alexis knew her life was never gonna be the same the moment she opened her lips and said her I do's to Alfredo Cortez multi billionaire and only son of Jackson Cortez Mayor of Wellington district.

This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life but somehow would be recorded as her worst, her gaze rested on her father whose face was beaming with smiles that was hiding his true feelings, she knew he knew that she wasn't happy and she was just a sacrificial lamb to save her father from going to jail too much for being daddy's favorite girl.

Slamming her alarm with the little of her strength that remained from the yesterday night events, the gala to commemorate the company partnership with one of Algeria biggest refinery it was a big feat she was able to achieve on her own.

One of her many achievements one would say.

" Mrs cortez" That was Riya her personal assistant and secretary she was just so good at her job that Alexis wished most times she wasn't, like today she so wasn't in the mood for whatever she needed to do.

" Am up Rita I'll be down for breakfast in 20 " She said as Riya nodded but still stood like she had some extra info to pass down

" Anything else? " Alexis asked raising her brow

" Well you have a board meeting with the sales committee and after that you have to interview the personals selected for your bodyguards they were strictly interviewed by the chair woman herself your mother in law I'll say" Rita said and Alexis hung her head low she was tired of this whole wife of a rich man s**t, God knows how much she missed her dad and the simple life she lived.

" Okay noted I'll be down let me get ready " She said as her eyes scanned the new set of dress arranged neatly on a rack for her to choose.

The cortez family was not just the richest and most famous they were also the most feared in the state. Her husband Alfredo was their only son handsome indeed but yet a fearsome man he didn't marry Alexis cause he loved her or found her attractive it was just because his mom seemed to find her quite suitable for a daughter in law aside the controversies surrounding her dad and the company.

He had told her on their wedding night how they were not meant to be and how much he didn't love her, that which he made quite obvious cause for two years of being married he had never touched her aside their wedding night which had to happen. That night left a scar on her body.

The meetings were over and she proceeded to the venue where she was to select a personal bodyguard this was instructions of her mother in law after an assassination attempt had being made on her some weeks back although she dreaded the idea she had to do it to please her mother in law and her husband who would do anything to look good in front of the social media and his family such a waste of time.

They were total of ten and she was bound to select three at least two

Just before she entered the door her phone rang it was her friends calling

" One minute Rita I'll be in shortly " She said and excused herself to the rest room

" Hello girlfriend how are you doing " Maya shrill voice yelled over the phone through the video call she was with the others Kella and Amy

" Well am good just quite tired " She said as they all started laughing

" Tired you say b***h you are glowing look at em skin" That was Kella she was the life of all four of em her dark skin shining under the chandelier of Maya's house

" Well what can I say " Alexis said trying to put up a big smile

" So....... You coming? " Maya asked her

" Coming to?...... " Alexis said not quite getting a hang of it

"I told you she won't be able to make it her husband is quite a fuss " Amy said

" Well we gotta hear from the horses mouth who gives a s**t bout her husband cause I don't " Kella said she seemed to not like Alfredo and had no shame in hiding it

" Well if only I know what am coming to I could sneak out " Alexis said

" Nahhhh last time you did that it was a disaster ion want that happening again" Maya said

" It's fine, so what are we celebrating cause I know it's not get together time yet" Alexis said as they all looked at themselves and smiled while Maya raised her fingers showing her ring

" Well he wasn't such a dumb arse after all" She said and Alexis gasped in shock

" Am so happy for you girl " She said excitedly

" Yep and that's why the girls wanna hang out and celebrate a little at Mac's fries too bad your not gonna be here no worries I'll send you pictures " Amy said as Alexis smiled

" That is perfect girls have fun I gotta go " Alexis said as she cut the call a slight ting of jealousy passed her heart she knew Maya was happy to get married everyone was always happy to except her.

As she came out of the restroom she overheard a voice a male voice he seemed quite tensed and she could hear him

" You know how much I have waited for this all my life bro and I need it " The voice said

" Well if I don't get it everything is a waste and yunno I can't afford to lose this opportunity again" He said as he laughed and cut the call coming out of closet just to meet Alexis at the door he froze staring at her

She was beautiful more beautiful than ever her Hazel grey eyes shone still sparkling like ever

" Paxton? " Alexis said her eyes assessing his name badge

" Yes ma'am " He said looking down he must have being staring at her wired judging by her piercing stare

" If am correct i think the interview is under way and you are in the wrong place don't you think ? " She said in an ice cold tone and he apologized and left

Something in her seemed to find a familiar feeling with him but she shoved it off whatever it was she was gonna go in there and makes sure she gets this over and done

" A cup of coffee please" she whispered in Rita's ears who scurried off immediately to get one

Alfredo found it quite irritable that he was married to Alexis and not the woman he had always loved although their relationship was a secret his marriage did not stop him from being with her. And so he watched her glide her dress down her graceful body she was a true definition of perfect imperfection one would say Alexis was flawless but that was one thing he hated most her desire to be perfect in everything he couldn't stand how she was thorough in everything

His eyes devoured the body before him as his body craved and ached to be touched deep down this was what he wanted but couldn't have a free life from the clutches of marriage and his family .
