  "Huh?" she asked, her voice low and shaky, confusion clouding her face. Her heart started to pound like a drum, it sounded so loud in her chest.   Vito didn't answer. Instead, he reached for a bottle of red wine and poured it into a small crystal cup. Then, without a word, he handed it to her.   "You said you were tasty, doll," he said, the edge of a smirk playing at his lips.   Ortensia took the drink with trembling fingers. Her hand shook so badly she almost spilled it. She brought it to her lips and took a small sip, barely tasting it. The chill of the liquid did nothing to calm the heat of panic rushing through her.   Vito watched her closely, his eyes unreadable. That made it worse. She couldn't tell what he was thinking. Not from his face, not from his voice. Not from anything.
