Chapter Forty-Three
Starlyn awoke with a start. Her eyes sprang open and she moved her arm to the side, reaching out to the other end of the bed. It was empty. Her eyes bulged and she sat up. It was the first night she’d shared a bed with Noraes. Before their marriage, she’d had her own bed so Sophie and Taasheka could take care of her. But now that she was on the mend and accepting the fact that temporarily she would have to eat meat for the baby, as well as officially married to Noraes, she chose to stay in his bed. But now he wasn’t there. Where had he gone?
She slid off the bed and put her slippers on. The night was cold, even with the heat lamps scattered across the room hanging from the ceiling. Starlyn reached over and grabbed her robe draped over a chair and slid it over her nake
