18 KentChamp had hung up on him. Kent jammed his phone into his shirt pocket. The temperature outside his cruiser was stuck near freezing and headed for a bitter five degrees lower by nightfall. Forecasters predicted the icy spell would last for two weeks. He’d been counting on Champ to keep him cozy. Forget that.
