I woke up in an empty bed, the covers were high on me and I was surrounded by fluffy pillows like a little cocoon. Sitting up and stretching I looked out of the window seeing nothing but darkness. Once I was up and dressed in a pair of shorts and a loose t-shirt, I spotted a clock reading 6:01am, ugh that is early, and I need coffee, but my main need was to find Colter. I walked out of the bedroom and towards his office which was empty, but the monitor was on and there was a fire in the fireplace, so I walked downstairs towards the kitchen for coffee. I turned the corner and jumped squealing and placing my hand over my heart.
"I didn't mean to startle you mon amour." he laughed. "I heard you waking up, so I came to make you some coffee. "
"Thank you." I replied taking the mug from his hands before I took a deep sip, the coffee washed through me waking every cell in my body.
"Good?" He asked with a hopeful smile.
"Yes, it is perfect." I smiled at him.
"Good, finish that and we will leave." He said cleaning up his mess.
"Leave?" I asked confused.
"Our shopping trip remember?" He said.
"Oh yes." I nodded taking another drink.
"Cameron and Misty are joining us. I hope that is okay with you." He said looking at me.
"Yes, that is fine." I said trying to contain my excitement.
Pleased with my answer he smiled and leaned against the countertop watching me as I drank my coffee, he is wearing a soft expression. He was difficult to read, and even more difficult to anticipate. Was I going to get gentle Colter or aggressive possessive Colter? I never knew and it made me on guard to make sure I did not say or do something to bother him. I placed my mug down in the sink once I was finished. He walked over taking my hand leading me outside to the waiting car. Once we were in and settled the car started moving towards the fancy side of the city where I have never stepped foot mainly because it was chalk full of vampires and I had no business going there. I sat next to Colter and looked out the window when I felt his hand brush softly against my leg, I looked down to see it was in that same position as our first car ride yesterday laying palm up and open waiting for me to take it, against my better judgement I was starting to slightly trust him. I placed my hand softly in his and waited for his reaction, I half expected him to pull away from me but instead he laced his fingers into mine and held a firm grip. We rode in silence every now and then he would brush his thumb over the side of my hand or give it a small squeeze but he never looked at me, just kept his eyes focused on the world outside.
The driver pulled the car in front of the entrance to a fancy looking store, Colter opened his door and stepped out keeping my hand firmly in his grasp, I followed trying my best not to fall. I looked up to see Cameron and Misty were already there waiting for us outside, Misty was talking a mile a minute, but Cameron looked happy and engaged with what she was saying. We walked up catching Cameron's attention who placed a hand on my friend’s arm directing her attention towards us. As soon as she saw me, she ran over wrapping her arms tightly around my neck, I hug her back with one arm because Colter still held my hand hostage.
"How are you Brother?" Cameron asked as he came over to hug me. I moved my head to the side, so we were able to hug, and he spotted Colters bite mark. "Ahh, I see you are doing very well."
"As are you." Colter said with a smile.
"We are doing well." Cameron agreed going back to Misty's side. "So, we are here to do a little shopping to make up for missed birthdays."
"Eek, Thank you!" Misty said hugging Cameron around the waist.
I smiled at my friend and leaned into Colter placing on hand on his arm and resting my head on his bicep. After last night I was oddly comfortable with him even though I was still very guarded, I did not want to return to the room with the red door ever again. I already knew escaping him was impossible so I might as well make the best of my situation and try to love the beast who owned me.
"Ready?" He said softly.
"Yes." I smiled.
We walked in behind Cameron and Misty who were hand in hand as she skipped along making their arms swing up and down. She was happy, happier than I have ever seen her before. The inside of the store was amazing, gold molding framing white walls and dark hardwood floors, there were isles and isles of womens clothing, shoes, furniture basically everything fancy for a home or to wear was in this one story everything dripped expensive and made me nervous to touch any of it. We followed them into the clothing section before Cameron turned and smiled.
"There is a Ball at the kings home tomorrow night, please pick a gown out for this occasion." He said.
"Any gown?" Misty asked with excitement.
"Anything you'd like." he winked at her.
"Would you like me to help you?" He asked me.
"Would it be okay to surprise you?" I asked him.
"I would like that." he smiled. I went to let go of his hand, but he pulled me towards him. "Nothing that is to reveling please."
He said that with a stern serious face that read do not tempt me with this request. I nodded my head and smiled. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss to my forehead before releasing my hand. I walked away and started looking through the racks of dresses when Misty came up to me and bumped me with her hip giving me a playful smile.
"So how does me Mysterious treat you?" She whispered.
"He is nice. As long as I don’t upset him." I smiled.
"Yea, Cam said he was different, like he doesn’t trust easily." She said with a half-smile.
"I wish I knew more about him. Like he said I was his and I mentioned the word love he froze and then fled." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"But he is nice to you? Like he doesn’t hit you or force himself on you?" She asked.
"Oh no, never anything like that." I said honestly.
"Good. So, have you?" she asked.
"What?" I replied.
"You know, done it?" She whispered.
"Oh, yes." I smiled with a blushed heat spreading across my face.
"And?" She questioned.
"It was nice." I said.
"Oh, come one, you have to give me more than that." She said looking at me.
"I prefer not to." I replied shaking my head.
"Your no fun!" She said with a fake pout.
"Come on let's find a dress so we don’t make them stay here all day." I said.
"Fine." She said as she rolled her eyes.
I smiled to myself as I walked around the different clothing racks looking at all the shiny short cut dresses not really seeing much, I liked. As I made my way towards the back for the shop I spotted the perfect one, it was floor length with laced sleeves the front was high on the chest and the back was completely open, it was perfect in every way.
"Would you like to try this on?" I heard a nice voice ask me.
"Yes Please." I said with a soft smile.
"Please follow me." she said taking the dress off the rack.
I walked into the dressing room and she shut the door standing there waiting for me to undress. Vampires were not shy about the body. I looked down as I got undressed as quickly as possible, once I was undressed, she helped me step into the dress than pulling it up and positioning it perfectly.
"Wow." she said with big eyes. "Take a look."
I turned around and investigated the floor to ceiling mirror and I did not recognize myself, the dress was stunning, and it clung to my body in all the right ways.
"I will take it, but it is a surprise." I said.
"I will make sure it's wrapped up nicely so he can see." She smiled at me.
"Thank you. Um. Do you have anything for a bedroom setting?" I asked looking at the ground.
"For intamincy? "she asked.
"Yes, do you know what he prefers?" She asked.
"Well most of the things he gave me is lace and it's all different colors." I said.
"Hmmm, you stay here and take that off I will find you something." She said with a smile.
"Thank you." I replied as she left the dressing room.
I carefully took the dress off and put it back on the hanger, I hung it up and stood there staring at it admiring every single inch of it, I really hope Colter liked it. I just needed shoes to match and something cute to wear underneath it.
"I got these; I think these colors will look great on your skin tone." She smiled.
I took them from her and tried them all on, eventually I decided on a lacey baby blue set complete with a garter belt to hold a pair of silk stockings. I also got a crimson red set that matched my dress, I would not have to wear the bra but the under ware, garter belt and the black silk stockings are going to be perfect. I got dressed and handed her the sets I decided on and she went to pack them up. I walked out and searched for Colter who was leaning up against a wall taking to Cameron they looked relaxed. I walked over and smiled at Colter standing close to him as we waited for Misty.
"Did you find something mon amour?" He asked me.
"Yes, thank you she's packing it up." I replied.
"Let's go pay for everything." He replied.
I smiled and waited to follow him, but he took my hand and lead me towards the counter where the women who helped me was packing the final pieces into beautiful black boxes with golden bows. She looked up at me and smiled and the looked at Colter when her eyes grew large.
"Mr. Coldwell." She said surprised.
"Hello, we are here to settle the bill." He said cooly.
"Of course, I did not know she belonged to you." She said quickly.
He did not respond his eyes grew dark and a growl erupted from his lips. "She is mine yes, but I do not own her."
"Of course, my apologies Sir." she said quickly. "It will be $76,987.90 Please."
"Very well." He said as he slides a black card across the counter.
"Colter.…" I whispered.
"It is a gift mon amour." He smiled.
"Thank you." I forced the reply, I did not want to upset him.
Once he finished paying, he took the bags and my hand leading me outside to wait for Misty and Cameron. As we stood outside waiting, we heard a rumble before rain started falling in rapid sheets. Colter let go of my hand and his arm wrapped around my waist pulling me close to his side under the awning out of the rain. I wrapped my arms around his waist and laid my head onto his chest. I felt safe and comfortable here, like I was made to perfectly fit into his hold. We were standing there watching the rain fall when we heard someone yelling when the door flew open Colter swung me to the other sided shielding me from whoever came out of that door.
"I told you not to talk to her in that manner." Cameron's voice boomed at the women now sitting in the rain on the wet sidewalk.
"I don’t think she understands the value of that gown." she said. "I wanted her to understand."
"I do not care, I asked you to be respectful. You were not and now you will pay for this." He said leading Misty out of the store by her hand and past the women.
No one said anything, Colter just took my hand as we followed them to the car. We all pilled in Colters car out of the rain. It was nice and warm inside not that they would notice but to me and Misty it was welcomed. We were all seated when the car pulled away from sidewalk heading towards yet another store.
"Are you alright?" I asked Misty.
"Yes, I am fine." She said with a smile.
"We have one more stop before we go get some lunch." Cameron smiled.
And we did just that, we went to a shoe/ purse store where I was able to get a really pretty pair of black heels and a small black bag that would match my outfit perfectly, but while I was shopping Colter disappeared for a few moments, I wasn’t sure where he went but It wasn’t my place to question him. There was a large group of vampires in the restraunt we went to who looked at me like they wanted to eat me so we didn’t spend much time there, Colter became upset and very possessive so instead we ended up going to our home and having lunch there with Cameron and Misty.
