CHAPTER 10Camilla had only taken a few steps down the corridor when she saw the Baroness hurrying towards her.
She had been surprised that the Baroness had not called on her earlier to see if she needed anything or had anything to discuss before they set out on the journey to Meldenstein.
She thought that perhaps the older woman was still fatigued, but now she saw by the Baroness’s manner and by the expression on her face that she .was in a state of extreme agitation.
“I must speak to you, Miss Lambourn, in private,” the Baroness said breathlessly as she reached Camilla’s side.
“Of course,” Camilla agreed. “Will you come into my bedroom? I will send Rose away.”
“There is no need,” the Baroness replied. “You have a boudoir, we will go in there.”
She opened the door adjacent to the bed
