Grey wasn’t happy, if he was honest, he was pissed off; he had discovered a potentially fatal and embarrassing gap in the information on Kurt Walker and his targets, yet his reward was to sit in his car and watch an empty house.
Though he knew it would be dangerous, given everything he had done, Grey secretly hoped Walker would show up; he wasn’t normally inclined towards being stupidly brave - the normal level of bravery was usually quite enough for him - but having a large role in the capture of such a dangerous criminal was bound to go a long way towards getting him off the DCI’s s**t list.
If he had had any clue what the outcome of such thoughts would be, he would have prayed fervently for just about anything else, including his immediate posting to the Outer Hebrides.
