BURKE STOPPED AND STARED for a moment as Nathan left Grey and hurried back into the house. The abruptness of his partner’s departure, and the way the door banged shut behind him, was startling and it left Burke wondering what was going through his partner’s head. There was nothing he could do about the situation, other than hope that Nathan was thinking at least semi-rationally and had some kind of a plan, so he turned his attention to Grey, whom he could help. He wasted no time with a quick examination of his colleague - he had first-aid training, but there were paramedics on hand who were much better equipped to both assess and treat whatever injuries Grey had - instead he copied his partner, took hold of Grey by the armpits and began dragging him down the path and away from the house.
