He stepped out the front door, locked it behind him, and climbed in behind the wheel of his Jeep. “You’re frowning,” Alex remarked. “Probably so.” “Why?” “Bill had a visit from some people I haven’t seen in… oh, sixteen or so years. They want to get in touch with me.” “From before June adopted you?” Luke nodded. “Are you going to do it?” “I don’t know.” Luke turned his gaze on Alex and lifted a brow. “You’re full of questions tonight.” “Sorry.” The teenager paused for a moment, then added, “I probably wouldn’t want to talk to them if I were you.” “Why do you say that?” “Well, you’re happy now, right?” “Yes.” “And they’re from a time in your life that wasn’t happy.” “Good point. And exactly what I’m thinking. Now, enough about it. We won the game, we’re on our way to Northstar
