Coach Wells met his gaze and gave him a subtle nod.
“I know you’ve all heard the doubters,” Luke said to the team, “who say you’re too young and too inexperienced to win today, and I know some of you might believe it. I don’t. I know you can win. I know you will win because you have the heart and you fight together. Tell me, why is that?”
“We are the Wolf pack!”
“And who’s the only undefeated team in this game?”
“We are!”
Luke leaned forward with his hand cupped around his ear. “What was that? I don’t think the fans heard you. Tell them and make sure they can hear you! Who’s going home as state champions?”
“We are!”
“And who are you?”
“The Devyn Wolves!”
