Sixteen
Ryan was almost sad when everyone decided the dinner party was over. Almost. Most of the discussion at the table had, of course, revolved around football. Everyone present had some connection to the sport, and the stories they all told ranged from inspiring to hilarious, but as much fun as it had been, Ryan was ready to have Luke all to herself, and her pulse jumped in anticipation.
“We know you won’t be out to Northstar tomorrow, but we can expect you both on Wednesday, right?” June asked, addressing both Luke and Ryan.
“Of course,” Luke replied.
“Thank you again for inviting me to Thanksgiving.”
“Our pleasure, but are you absolutely sure you don’t want to spend it with your family?”
