The Devil's Hands

Hello, is this The Devil?

The "Sacred" phone rings...

A middle-aged man speaks in worry " Hello, is this … is this The Devil's (stammering) hands? "

… No answer just a sound of breathing to indicate there is someone listening on the other line.

The man continues still in doubt "I get your number from the doctor, he said... you... can...maybe you can help my family."

"Please continue... why do you think I can help your family?"

"I have a very kind, smart, and loving daughter. She will (sobbing) never hurt any creature, I don't know why God did this to her...She deserves a better life, she has worked so hard to reach her dream. She has just gotten closer to her dream just one more step, and she deserves that..."

"Calm down Mr. Lee, I know what you need and nobody will blame you for trying so hard to save your daughter."

"You... know me? How?"

"I am the devil, right? I will always be there whenever people think that God treats them unfairly."

… Mr. Lee stuns for a second, he feels he has crossed a forbidden line as a human being but at the same time feels relieved that there is a hope for his little girl.

"Now, the question is Mr. Lee,  what can you offer to me? What can you do in order to escape the angel of death?"

"I can offer you a lot of money, how much do you want?"

"Hmm...money? I have lots of it...What else can you offer?"

As an Ambassador of a country, Mr. Lee has gone to some countries. He knows he owes a lot to his family, his daughter especially who should move from one school to another school, not only the curriculum is different, but also she has to learn a new language. That's why before she finds the violin as her universal language, she has a difficulty in making friends. After her debut in the school art and musical event, many people praise her and want to be her friend. They encourage her to join one competition to another competition and cheer for her.

For some time Mr. Lee feels relief and proud at the same time. But that undetected disease comes, she is still young and lives a healthy life style, how come it happens to her? Why not me God, it's not fair?! When someone mentions the devil's hands, he feels that it's a way for him to fight the unfairness. Ironically he will use The devil to fight God.

"What do you want? Tell me, I will do anything to make my baby safe and happy."

"I need someone to give a recommendation to the ministry of defense that this the devil's hands is a good and safe biological weapon, of course with some modification from now, a modification to make it perfect!" 

"I can introduce you to one of the parties which sometimes hold by the government..."

"No...not that kind of introduction. I don't want to be exposed, I enjoy working behind the scene. Now I have a difficulty in making this product legal, now the distribution only from mouth to mouth. Can you imagine if this can be made a legal product, how many soldiers can we save from the war? There will be no wife or mother who cries because of losing someone in the war. We will become a powerful country, they will listen to us..."

(Mr. Lee takes a deep breath)"...I will try contacting my friend in the military industry..."

"I believe you will, but let's save your baby first. Now email me your daughter's medical record,  I will find the heart for you."

"You know...I have been looking for the heart for quite some time, and I know to get a heart the donor should die..."

"Don't worry about how and where I will get the heart, I can guarantee you, your daughter will get a new heart before everything is too late. Just give me some time, I will contact you when it's ready. You just have to make sure your baby wait patiently, don't cause a scene like this morning. You know too much attention is not a good way to promote my business."

"Yes sir, I understand. Thank you so much, I will wait for your good news."

"Did you hear it, James? We get a new project."

"Yes sir, I will find a suitable "product".  Since what we will harvest is the core of a young product, It will be such a shame if we don't use it efficiently. I will find some other buyers who need a young product." 

James turns on his laptop and read Annie's medical record, he begins opening his "Valuable List". After searching for a while he finally has 10 products to be harvested, "Sir, I will go checking on the products, do you need anything before?"

"I don't have anything to do this afternoon right? I suppose I'll go meeting my son and his fiancée."
