Heat transferred from his palm to her skin through the silk fabric of her pyjamas. It was so warm that she felt embarrassed and angry, and without realizing it, she wanted to reach out and push him away. He was as solid as a wall, so she couldn't move him an inch. She suppressed the fear in her heart and lifted her eyes to meet his calm gaze.
"Director Blackwood, I respect you, so please have some respect for me." Daisy suppressed her anger, hoping to resolve the situation calmly.
"Miss Knight, don't leave." Kingsley lowered his head. Fear spread in Daisy's eyes, and she quickly turned her face away. His thin lips grazed her ears.
"Miss Knight, don't be too sensitive," Kingsley whispered in her ear, his breath warming her earlobes, making her itch. "Listen to what this sound is." Kingsley extended his left hand behind him and placed the cup back on the counter, emitting a soft sound.
After hearing the sound, Daisy felt like something had exploded in her head. Her cheeks blushed with embarrassment, but she quickly composed herself and didn't allow it to take over.
Kingsley had already released her waist. He placed his hands on the edge of the counter, trapping her. He looked at her with calm and deep eyes.
"Miss Knight, you can't misunderstand me and think I would do things that are beneath my status, okay?"
Daisy pretended to act calm, but her heart was pounding like a drum.
She secretly sighed, smiled, and softened her voice, beautiful and calm. "How is it possible? A good and respectable man like Mr. Blackwood wouldn't do things that are beneath his dignity. Why don't we sit in the living room?"
Facing his calmness and grace, she felt embarrassed. Kingsley showed no sign of moving away; instead, he lowered his head, the tip of his nose almost touching hers. His eyes, which were calm like glass, were unfathomable. Daisy dared not move. She blinked her long eyelashes slightly, casting a shadow on the skin under her eyes.
The warm, gentle light spilt over their heads, casting shadows on the tops of their hair and blurring their outlines. The air was silent.
"Really?" Kingsley's deep voice sounded even more enticing this time.
"What now?" Daisy raised her eyes swiftly, the broken light illuminating them.
She felt the back of her head being held by his palm. He bent down, covering her lips with his thin ones.
Trouble and anxiety dominated Daisy's heart. While her mind was blank, she tried to avoid his mouth but Kingsley was relentless, fighting with her lips and tongue, making it difficult for her to breathe. Daisy was about to suffocate from the forceful kiss.
Before she realized it, he pulled away, his eyes full of desire.
"This is my answer." he used actions to tell her what kind of person he was.
Daisy didn't expect him to kiss her. To be accurate, it wasn't a gentle kiss, but a punitive one. When had she angered him? She saw him as nothing more than a beast in human clothing.
She suppressed her anger and said, "Mr. Blackwood, thank you for saving me today. I respect you, but I'm not the kind of woman who goes along with these things, and I'm not the kind of woman who sells herself to make deals. Let's consider what happened as a misunderstanding and that no one will mention in the future."
After listening to what she said, Kingsley smiled and clapped, but then he asked a meaningless question.
"Have I ever kissed you like this before?" Otherwise, how could she feel so familiar?
Daisy's heart skipped a beat. "This... how is it possible, hahaha, Mr. Blackwood, don't tease me."
Kingsley looked at her closely, his eyes glancing at her several times. She and the woman from that night were completely different. Was he just confused?
"Then between me and David... who do you think is better ?"
Comparing them? What did he mean? This topic changed so quickly that Daisy was confused.
"Mr. Blackwood and Mr. Sonda have both been very successful. But what does this have to do with me? You and he are nothing alike."
She and David had only met twice because of their work. Moreover, she wasn't in a position to decide who was better between them!
Daisy felt she shouldn't let him in. After all, it wasn't right for a man and a woman with no relationship to talk in the same room. In the end, she had led the wolf into the room, and she was the one who suffered the consequences.
"Mr. Blackwood—"
Before she finished her sentence, the doorbell rang.
"It seems your guest has arrived." Kingsley didn't continue the debate and turned to leave.
Daisy moved to the side of the counter with her hand on her back, trying to calm herself. She went to the door to check the security video and saw that the person standing outside was David. Problems kept coming one after another.
Should she open the door? What would David think if he saw Kingsley in her hotel room? It would definitely cause unnecessary misunderstandings, so she could only find a way to make David leave.
"Mr Sonda, do you need anything from me?" Daisy asked.
"Daisy, I'm sorry to bother you at this time of the night, but this incident happened because of me, and you were affected. I don't feel well, and I hope to see you and make sure that you're okay." David's voice was guilty and concerned.
"Mr Sonda, don't worry. I'm okay. My flight is tomorrow morning at eight, so I'm already in bed," Daisy used as an excuse and said, "You should also go back to rest early."
"In that case, why don't I invite you for breakfast tomorrow morning, then take you to the airport to make up for my sins?" David spoke decisively.
Daisy frowned a little. "Mr. Sonda, it has nothing to do with you, and the hotel provides breakfast service. There's also a shuttle to take us to the airport, so you don't need to make a special trip and waste your time."
"Daisy, this project will last for at least six months. Will you be this polite to me the whole time?" David smiled outside the door. "Rest well tonight and see you tomorrow."
So the decision was made? Daisy was surprised.
"Mr. Sonda—"
"You said you'd call me David. How could you forget?"
"Da...vid, thank you."
"We're friends."
Daisy breathed a little and lowered her eyelids. If Kingsley weren't here, she would have definitely opened the door and thanked him in person.
Kingsley was just a devil! As she thought about him, a slender figure approached, and his shadow covered her.
Daisy turned back and saw Kingsley wearing a brand-new white shirt and a black suit. It looked very special on him. The glory carved in his bones and the confidence within him couldn't be compared to anything else.
"Is that David? Why don't you invite him in?" Kingsley said slowly, adjusting his suit on his body. Daisy ignored him, focusing on him with a worried expression on her face.
"Are you angry?" Kingsley chuckled, then reached out and opened the door.
He didn't step out immediately but leaned in and pressed his thin lips against her ear. His voice was calm. "I'm just exercising my rights." He spoke so casually with great confidence.
'Your rights? Who gave you those rights!' Daisy wanted to swear.
"Kingsley, why are you here?" This was David's voice. Didn't he leave?
