With Kingsley still inside, Daisy stepped out and saw David standing outside the door.
The two men were staring at each other, which made Daisy feel numb. She couldn't explain the relationship between her and Kingsley even though she tried to say it differently.
"What are you doing here at this hour?" David snapped, shifting his gaze from Kingsley to Daisy, who was still in her nightwear.
"Okay, Mr. Blackwood was just about to leave," Daisy said.
Kingsley ignored his question and asked, "I thought you had already left. Why are you still here?"
David gently lifted a bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruit he was holding. "I forgot to leave these flowers and fruits at the door."
"Okay then, I decided to take my time while showering and changing clothes in Miss Knight's place," Kingsley said this, stealing a glance at Daisy standing beside him and slightly pursing his lips.
Although what he said was true, it somehow sounded suspicious to Daisy's ears.
"Mr Blackwood was the one who saved me earlier. It's quite common for him to have spare clothes," she explained skillfully, with a beautiful smile on her face.
Although she didn't want to disclose anything to David, she also didn't want to have any personal relationship with Kingsley. She wanted to stay away from them as far away as much as possible. But on Kingsley's side, he felt that she was in a hurry to sever ties with him as if he were some kind of scary virus. This made him very unhappy.
Although Kingsley remained calm and composed, his eyes were dark. "David, let's not interrupt Miss Knight's rest. Let's go to the nearby cafe and talk." After Kingsley said that, he stepped out and patted David on the shoulder.
David responded with a nod of agreement, handing Daisy the flowers and fruits he was holding and telling her, "See you tomorrow dmorning." Quickly, he went to catch up with Kingsley and entered the elevator with him.
Both Kingsley and David were tall and handsome. The two of them walking side by side could mesmerize people with their attractive looks.
They had long been accustomed to being the centre of attention. Many, if not all, women worshipped them. They both had careless looks until they got in Kingsley's car.
As soon as David got into the car, he reclined on the seat and felt very uncomfortable. "So, tell me, do you love Daisy?"
"Daisy? Already calling her first name so affectionately?" Kingsley asked as he adjusted the corners of his clothes.
"This is a personal matter. Even if you're my boss, you shouldn't care so much, okay?" David's eyes shifted slowly as he looked at the side of his face illuminated by the light. "But even if you love her, we can still have fair competition."
"She's not suitable for you," Kingsley said in a low but deep voice, indicating that he was not to be questioned.
"What do you mean? Why is she not suitable for me?" David asked, his face contorted with anger. "In my opinion, Daisy is a beautiful woman. Just by looking at her, you can tell she would make a good wife and mother."
Kingsley looked at him coldly and said again, "She's already married." He tried to emphasize the word "married" as much as possible.
It was as if David had been struck by lightning. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat and said with a tired smile, "Mr. Blackwood, I'm sure you're deliberately deceiving me to get rid of me. This is not a gentlemanly way of doing things."
"She's married, but she's separated from her husband, which is why she's been living as an unmarried woman." Kingsley's eyes immediately darkened.
"That's outrageous!" David said under his breath, grinding his teeth in anger. He was not very satisfied.
Hearing that, Kingsley furrowed his eyebrows. In his cold voice, he asked, "Who are you calling outrageous?"
How could he be called outrageous? Many women would do anything to sleep with him, but he had never been tempted by them. He had such a strong stance that people thought he was gay.
At that moment, David also felt a chill around him. "I didn't mean you, I meant Daisy's husband, who doesn't love and appreciate such a beautiful woman after marrying her, then leaves her to fend for herself. It's irresponsible and a great shame on manhood. It's just like having a good toilet and not using it when you feel constipated."
The more David spoke, the more excited he became, and he even started swearing ungratefully.
Kingsley, on the other hand, was comfortably resting in the car. Although his handsome face was hidden in the darkness and his eyes closed, his chest rose slightly.
"Perhaps there's something hidden about her husband that we don't know."
"Something hidden? Those are just silly excuses!" David snapped. He didn't see any change of cunning in Kingsley's eyes. But after speaking, he pondered carefully about what he had said. He raised his eyes, turned to Kingsley, and said with a cunning smile,
"Mr. Blackwood, do you think Daisy's husband couldn't... you know?"
Suddenly, Kingsley opened his eyes wide. They looked very cold in the darkness.
Immediately,
felt a chill down his entire body. He straightened his clothes nervously and said,
"Did I make a mistake? If not, why would an ordinary couple separate? It's either they're not ordinary or they're not responsible."
"It's their decision, and they're happy about it. It has nothing to do with you," Kingsley growled, convincing David that he was meddling in other people's business.
"Well, I insist on being stubborn about this." It was clear that David was still unconvinced "I want to help her get out of that bitter sea called marriage."
Right away, Kingsley signalled the driver to stop the car and ordered David to get out. "Get out of the car this minute!"
He had suppressed his anger all this time, but finally, he couldn't tolerate David's greed anymore.
