The escape route

1117 Words

Fiona’s pulse raced as she sat alone in the dimly lit cell. Every inch of her body ached, but it was the fear that was the hardest to bear. The enforcer’s unexpected offer replayed in her mind. Her thoughts twisted in doubt—was it really her chance to escape, or was it a trap set by the Alpha? What if she was making a mistake? What if trusting him was the wrong choice? But deep down, she could feel it. There had been something in his eyes—something that spoke of sincerity, an unspoken promise of freedom. For a moment, she allowed herself to believe him. I have to trust him, she thought, her heart steadying. Her survival hinged on taking that risk, on believing that there was a way out of this nightmare. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sharp, faint click of the door’s lock turning.
