I was beyond livid, but I forced myself to stay calm. “I understand I shouldn’t have interfered in your affairs. Please, spare me this once.” I lowered myself, choosing humility over pride. The last thing I needed was more trouble. “Too late, Ms. Jin. I already have my eyes on you.” He walked casually to the principal’s chair and sat down as if he owned the world. “I only have one request for you.” “Which is?” I asked, wary. “Be my personal assistant. Do that, and I won’t have to disturb you or play pranks on you.” His tone was calm, too calm. “You want me to be your personal assistant? More like someone who runs errands for you.” My fists clenched at my sides. “If you want to put it that way.” He shrugged. “And if I say no?” He chuckled softly. “I was hoping you wouldn’t say that, but maybe this will change your mind.” He reached into a drawer, pulled out a file, and tossed it onto the table. My body stiffened. Did he run a background check on me? If he did, then he knew my whole identity. I hesitated before picking it up, my fingers slightly trembling. “Did you run a background check on me?” I asked. “Of course I did. I wanted to know who you really are, especially after you dared to beat up my two best friends.” His lips curved with amusement. I braced myself and opened the file but it was empty, it's just a blank page staring back at me. “Is this a joke?” I snapped, my voice finally returning now that I realized he might just be playing with me. “You’re quite feisty.” He smiled, reaching into the drawer again and pulling out another file. “I just wanted to see your first reaction, baby girl.” This time, I didn’t hesitate. I snatched it from him and flipped it open. My breath hitched. Everything was there. Every detail about me, every secret I had buried so deeply, laid bare on paper. Nothing was left out. He stood and walked toward me slowly. “So, what do you say?” His voice dropped. “Be my personal assistant, or have this leaked for the whole world to see? Imagine your Korean fans, those who admire you, finally discovering who you truly are.” He tilted his head, watching me closely. “Are you threatening me?” I asked through clenched teeth. “Maybe.” He shrugged. “You have five minutes to decide. At least you have two weeks of suspension, plenty of time to do your job without school getting in the way.” I looked down at the file one last time, then nodded. “Yes. But you have to keep your word.” “Trust me, keeping my word is my middle name.” He smirked, taking the file from my hands. “Your work starts now.” He glanced at his wristwatch. “I have a board meeting with the school staff. Let’s go.” I blinked in surprise but followed him anyway. “My father owns the school,” he added casually. “He recently handed it over to me.” Of course he did, I almost rolled my eyes. We took the elevator to the upper floor. Neither of us spoke. When we arrived, the teachers were already seated. He took the head chair while I stood beside him like a statue. Their curious gazes fell on me. “Don’t worry, she’s with me,” he said, dismissing their silent questions as the meeting began. For the next thirty minutes, I stood there, listening as they discussed plans to improve the school. I felt completely out of place. Then Jayden glanced at me and crooked a finger, signaling me to come closer. My irritation flared. “I’m thirsty. I need water,” he whispered. “There’s water on the table,” I muttered, my jaw tightening. “I don’t want it. Go,” he rasped. Reluctantly, I left. When I returned, I placed a glass in front of him. He glanced at it briefly. “It’s too cold. I want something warm.” His lips curved into a satisfied smile. I knew he was enjoying this. And it was driving me insane, because there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. I went back to get him another glass of water. This time, I was already sweating. He took it from me only to toss it carelessly onto the table. Then, without hesitation, he picked up the glass of water he had rejected earlier before asking me to get him another one, and drank from it instead. I was this close to punching his stupid, handsome face. But he wasn’t done with me. He called me again, and I could feel everyone’s eyes on me. While the others spoke, he barely paid attention, his main focus was entirely on me. He pointed toward a shelf not far from us. “Arrange those folders in alphabetical order,” he commanded. I walked over slowly, biting back my irritation, and began sorting them like he asked. By the time I was halfway through, the meeting had ended. One by one, the staff members filed out, leaving just the two of us behind. He walked over and pulled out one of the folders. “The most important thing about working with me,” he began, “is that you must ask questions.” I frowned slightly, wondering what nonsense he was about to say. Ignoring him, I continued arranging the files. “When I said alphabetical order,” he added, his voice laced with amusement, “I didn’t mean by topic.” My hands paused. “I meant by the author’s name.” He smirked.
