Diaz immediately dressed up as he went outside " Ann, Ann?" He yelled as she ran out " I'll be going out for a while, remember what your madam told you, always take good care of Laxmi" he said as Ann shook her head " daddy are you also going out?" Laxmi asked " yup, I promise, I'll get you something special, love you" he said pecking her as he left the house. Laxmi woke up from sleep as she walked into the living room where her nanny was watching film " nanny Ann " Laxmi said as she sat down " yes dear" Ann said brushing her hair ' can I go out and play?, I have no one to play with here, please nanny" Laxmi pleaded as Ann smiled, she understood the girls feelings, her parents never let her play outside " okay, let's go" Ann said as they got up going outside. She opened the gate to see other children playing ' it's already 3. 30 , immediately it's five, you're coming back inside and no rough plays, if you hurt yourself, your parents won't forgive me, do you understand?" Ann asked as little Laxmi shook her head " yes nanny, I got you, I'll play nicely and five I'm inside " Laxmi said as she ran out to join the other children while Ann kept the gate open as she went inside to continue watching television. The kids played for a while as they rested " I'm going to eat, I'll be back" JC their neighbors son said as he went home " come on Laxmi, let's play hide and seek, do you know how to play the game?" They asked as Laxmi shook her head ' I'll count to thirty".

" Thirty!" Laxmi said as she opened her eyes, she giggled running to wherever she felt like running to " guys!" JC called out when he came back but didn't see anyone as he entered into the house " hey you, what do you want?" The gate man asked as he held JC " I just want to tell Ann something" he said as the gate man pushed him outside " thief!" He locking the gate. Laxmi ran miles without seeing anyone as she stood in front of an uncompleted building " guys look at that girl" a man said as the smoke escaped from his nose " let's get her nah" the other one said as he dropped the drink " that small girl, I'm not joining you guys" he said sitting down by the block " leave that guy" the first man said as they ran out holding the innocent child who was shouting and crying for help " mummy, daddy, mummy, mummy, mummy!" Laxmi yelled as the men took advantage of her. It was almost evening when Roselle came back from work, she noticed that the whole street was crowdy and her gate was opened. She walked inside the house to find alot of their neighbors as she turned to see Ann on the floor shedding out a zillion tears, Roselle for a second just paused trying to even figure out what happened while she could notice that all eyes were on her as she coughs " Ann, where's Laxmi, and why are there so many people inside the house?" She asked but Ann was speechless, she couldn't utter a word " Ann where's my daughter!?" Roselle asked screaming as Ann knelt down " ma'am, I'm sorry, Laxmi told me she wanted to play, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Ann cried but nothing was making sense to Roselle as the neighbors gave way to the dead body of 12 years old little Laxmi covered with blood, she was abused badly and still stabbed to dealt. Roselle was like a statue, that couldn't be true, her daughter was breathing, healthy and alife before she left the house as she turned to Ann " you killed my daughter, you killed my Laxmi " she shouted

Many neighbours came holding Roselle who fell to the floor holding her head, it wasn't still making sense, it couldn't be possible, it was all a prank, this was all laxmis idea , she was just playing dead. Roselle who was on the floor crawled like a baby with her knees trembling with fear, each step she crawled she prayed she would just wake up and shout " mommy it's a prank" and laugh that cute little laugh of hers as she held her in her hands. " Roselle, Roselle!" Lara Diaz mother screamed from the gate banging it as loud as possible as Roselle who was inside the kitchen came outside and asked the gate man to open the gate " mom welcome " Roselle said as Lara gave her a slap that sent her to the floor " so, you've promised the devil to let my late husband's name die off, Diaz is my only child, please give us children, please " Lara begged as Roselle ignored her going back into the house. Diaz came back to find his mother at home, he was quite surprised, he wasn't expecting her but he knew why she came " mom" he said as she stood up " do you know that woman didn't give me any food since I arrived?, The same way she hasn't given you a child after four years of marriage!' Lara shouted as Diaz who newly appointed as a captain looked around the house " mom, you don't know what is happening, so just calm down " he said as he walked upstairs, they stayed in a comfortable three bedroom flat " hon" Diaz said opening the door to see Roselle crying as he had expected

" Hon, why are you crying, did mom say anything to you?" He asked as she just turned to face the mirror ' your mom came here, all the way from Washington to tell me I'm a useless wife, does she know everything I've been through, she doesn't know anything!' Roselle asked as Lara banged open the door ' you're the one who knows nothing, you barbaric i***t in the shape of a woman!" She yelled as Diaz tried pushing her out of the room " mom, don't you understand privacy?, You can't just come into our bedroom any how you please " he said angrily " no, Roselle the know it all woman, please tell me, the woman, mother of Diaz who doesn't know anything, tell me everything that you know!' she yelled at the peak of her voice as Roselle couldn't handle it, as she squeezed herself from the room " come back here, you witch!" Lara yelled dragging Roselle's hair as Diaz tried stoping her " arergghhhhhhb!' Roselle screamed as she rolled down the stairs hitting her head on the floor with blood gushing out " hon....' Diaz yelled rushing to take her to the hospital as Lara rushed down to follow him. Doctor Hal Lindsey came out of the testing room as he sat down with Diaz and his mom ' doctor how's she?" Lara asked as Diaz looked at her with rage " how's my wife " he was hal opened his files " well, the thing is, she was pregnant, and the fall was very impactive, it caused her alot of internal bleeding " Hal said as Lara and Diaz looked at each other ' pregnant?" They asked together " yes, the last time she came here, she was tested as to be pregnant but of course she told me, she would only tell you at the sixth month, in case of any miscarriage like the previous ones" he said as Diaz bowed his head ' is the baby okay?" Lara asked holding her fingers tight " we lost it, but your wife's miscarriages are becoming too much, if by the next five years she doesn't give birth, then we have to close her womb to keep her alife"

Some few weeks later Roselle was back home and she wouldn't hear the end of everything, even after her mother in-law left, Diaz would not stop but to blame her to for what happened " if only you opened up that you were pregnant, I'm very sure mom wouldn't come here to make a scene, now see what what your silence has caused us, I'll never have a child that would bear my name" Diaz yelled as he walked out of the room leaving the woman who just stared at the window speechless. Years flew past like a mighty wind and Roselle got employed as a banker, now she had somewhere to go rather than sleeping at home every time. Diaz who was getting alot of promotions also rarely stayed at home, he was always flying to one country or the other. Roselle came back from work completely drained of her energy as she yawned, she checked her wrist watch which was eleven In the evening as she went into the room to see Diaz inside, he bought alot of flowers and decorated the room ' hon, when did you get back?" Roselle sat down on the chair, she faced the mirror as she smiled, the impossible has become possible for them, after many years of failure they were given there very last chance to be parents and non of them were joking with it. The doctor has said if this baby died, they would never have another and he said if it lived at least they have one now. Diaz himself stayed at home to take care of his wife untill she was due for delivery. He passed to and fro, he has never been here before and the doctors were not making things easy for him.
