He smiled back at her. “Thanks. And you’re right. I’ve been so stressed out about our relationship and wondering what’s going to happen. I haven’t been sleeping, and I’ve lost weight. But I’m coming around to the point where I’m like . . . I don’t have any control over this situation, you know? I can’t make Anna do anything. I can’t even influence her one way or another. So whatever is going to happen is just going to happen. And weirdly, that’s sort of comforting to me.”
