Chapter eight

I find it very funny that Nicholas moved from Texas down here. Bridgett and I had tried to convince him to come stay here, but he had refused. I wonder what made him change his mind.

“Why did you decide to relocate Nick?” I asked resting my back on the chair

“The thing is, my girlfriend stays here in California,” he said

“So that's why you moved here? moreover, what is even her name” Bridgett asked

“Her name is Angela and she is a single mother”

“Ooh! She has a name to match her looks, she must have been sent from heaven definitely and a single mother, how many does she have” Bridget said

“Just one. The thing is, have been in California for about six days now and have been staying in a hotel, I and Angela met up like three times ever since have been here. I know you guys are mad at me right now because I didn’t let you guys know am sorry” he said looking remorseful

“Am just really shocked that you would take that kind of decision without us, I thought we were your best friends” I said

“Am sorry guys, I know you guys hardly keep stuff from me, I just did it without thinking about it too long

“So how did you get the apartment?” Bridgett asked

“I asked an agent to do that for me and the good thing is that I made sure the house is not far from here, it just a few blocks from here”

“Have you gone to check the place out?”

“Yes I did before coming down here” he answered

“Oooh! That's good at least we will see you often,” Bridget said smiling

“But what if all of this does not work out then what are you gonna do,” I said looking straight into his eyes, he inhaled a deep breath before answering me

“Like I said before I haven’t even thought about it that much, but I just feel it deep down in my soul that Angela is the one for me. I love her so much”

“You are lucky you don’t work for nobody,” Bridgett said

“Yeah, you know I own my company,” he said smiling mischievously

“Whatever, rich kid,” She said sticking out her tongue

“I have the money, all I need right now is my true love, guys I really love her so much, please. I need your support on this” he said Using his two hands to plead

“Cut the crap, if you want to follow your heart that's what you should do, we support you and we are not angry no more” She turned to me “Aren’t we baby”

“Yes we are

“Let all have a big hug” We stood up from the chair and embraced each other across the table

“It's nice to have you around us here, maybe forever,” I said extending my hand for a handshake

“Thank you, man”

“So I think the next thing to do is to go check out your new place since you said is not far from us,” Bridgett said

“Yes we can since the rain has already stopped or we can wait till tomorrow night already,” Nicholas said looking at his wristwatch

“No, we should go check out the place, it's just almost 8”

“Okay let go then neighbors,” he said teasingly

“let's just quickly change into something better”

*The rain wasn’t as heavy as I’d thought because the street floor was scantily wet. As soon as we got to the three-story building, I knew instantly who also stays there, Felicia. Someone that have i been trying to avoid because of the way have nastily behaved towards her, why must Nicholas rent an apartment here of all places

“So which floor did you rent”

“It’s the third floor, when you guys get there, you going to love it ”

“It must be spacious because I know you”

“Yes it is, I get the top floor all too myself”

“Let's go see it,” Micheal said taking the short steps to get into the building.

We took the elevator, until we got to the top floor, and entered into an empty, littered apartment. The first thing that caught my attention was the view, I could see outdoors through the large glass door.

As soon as, I slide the door open, a cool breeze gently blows through my hair, as I gaze through the glittering city light relaxing on the iron pavement. I could hear the hum of the city below and a peal of laughter from a nearby restaurant. I felt so peaceful and on top of the world.

“You guys should come to check this out,” I said beckoning at them, Nicholas slid the glass to get into the balcony while Micheal followed

“This is so nice,” Micheal said nodding his head

“I bet you haven’t seen this place at night before Micheal”

“Yes I haven’t, i love it here already and the best thing is that I have the two of you here with me” he held the two of us in his hands so tight to his body, trying to get a hug

“Ooh please let go of me, ew” I freed myself from his grasp while Micheal did the same

“You are just too excited,” Micheal said

“Yes I am, look that must be the roof of your house” he pointed out

“Yes, it is, look at how small it is from here,” Micheal said putting his hands in his pocket. It's so late that I think we should head back home now

“Yes it is, have had a long day, Nicholas lead the way”

“Okay let go even though you guys didn’t check the other rooms”

“No, we will just take a quick look at everywhere then we will leave”

It is a nice place apart from the fact that Felicia resides there also, it has a very spacious living room, three massive bedrooms, and a kitchen. We got out of the building and as soon as we were about to bid Nicholas goodbye because we already knew he was going back to the hotel to pass the night, that was when he remembered to tell us that he wanted his girlfriend to meet us tomorrow.

“But you didn’t tell us before” Micheal had said

“It almost escaped my mind” he had said

“What if we have a plan for tomorrow, silly you”

“Am sorry”

He has been sorry numerous times today. Nicholas is just something else, I just hope he gets it right this time, he invests so much in all of the relationships he gets into.

“Hunnie please off the light when you get in, I might be asleep before you get back, good night” I yelled from the bed to Micheal who was in the bathroom
