BEEP BEEP BEEP
I wake up to a strange beeping, a consistent and timely beeping. I look to my left and see the heart monitor.
What the h-
"SHE'S AWAKE!"
A man yells, forcing me to cover my ears.
Of course I'm awake, I was sleeping!
I take a look at my surroundings and notice the needles in my arms, the white walls, and the blue curtain preventing me from seeing past it. A male in a white coat walks in with a notebook. He starts shining a light in both my eyes.
"Pupils reacting normally. That's a good sign. What's the last thing you remember?"
I closed my eyes as the light was giving me a migraine.
C'mon, remember. Anything!
"I'm sorry, I can't seem to think of anything right now..."
"That's completely normal after what you have been through. Can you confirm your name for me then?"
My name? Holy s**t! What's my name!!!
My eyes widen before tears come falling down. I lift my knees to my chest and rest my head on them while I cry my eyes out. How did I not remember my own name? I've only had it all my life. It just didn't make sense.
"I'm here, I came as soon as I heard!" A man said rushing in from behind the curtain.
"Who are you? Are you related to her?" The doctor asks.
"What? No! She my fiancee. Babe are you alright?" He asks, grabbing my hand.
I quickly pulled my hand away from his and glanced up at him. He was a tall handsome man. About 6'0, short wavy brown hair, brown eyes, and a pearly white smile. He seemed fancy judging by the fact he wore a navy blue suit to a hospital.
"My fiancee?" I say, mouth staying slightly ajar.
"Yea babe! Do... you... remember me?" He asks, a scowl plastering on his face.
"I-I'm sorry, I don't remember much about anything... Don't take it the wrong way! I don't even remember my own name!" I burst out before my head falls back onto my knees and tears start rolling again.
"Well Miss Rikaya," he pauses but it just fuels my confusion.
"Miss Rikaya," he says a second time, tapping my shoulder to get my attention.
I point at myself and he nods.
"You're full birth name is Rikaya Jade Smith. Unfortunately you were in an automobile collision. You were in a coma for 2 months with a head injury. I am not surprised that you are having memory issues with the injuries you sustained," the doctor said.
"Will I ever get my memories back?"
"Some people do, definitely. I don't see why you couldn't. It would just take a bit of time and maybe going to places you've been before or hanging out with the people you used to will help jog you're memory. Mr. Johnson, can I speak with you privately please?"
"Yes of course doctor," the handsome man sternly committed and followed the doctor past the curtains, leaving me with my own thoughts.
What if I can never remember anything again! What if my old memories are gone for good? Oh GOD! What happened! He said it was a car accident but I can't remember any of it! Was it my fault or someone else's?
The two men walk back into the room, the doctor seeming unfazed and my fiancee seeming worried or stressed.
"Rikaya, mi amour," my fiancee starts, kneeling on the floor beside my bed and holding my hand to comfort me.
"Rikaya they want you to stay here another night, just for observations.. only if you consent to it though, they won't hold you here if you wish to-"
I interrupted him.
"I wanna go home. This hospital is stressing me out."
He gives a kind of - dissatisfied, look at me before looking at the doctor.
"We'd like to leave then doctor."
The doctor nods, and heads out of the room. A nurse, a beautiful young woman, comes into the room to remove all of my IV needles and heart monitor pads. She then also pulls my fiancee out of the room to get him to sign some papers regarding my discharge.
Am I realy engaged to such a handsome man? He speak Spanish, does that mean anything to me? Or did it?
My fiancee walks back into the room and hands my some clothes.
"Do you need help changing my love?"
"No, I'm okay."
He continues to stand there and watch as I pick up the clothes. A medium length black dress made of silk and had the sides scrunched. I stand up to change and notice he's still watching me.
"Could- could I just get some privacy please?"
He looks hurt when I say that. Alost like he was looking forward to watchig me change.
"Of course, if that makes you feel more comfortable."
He swiftly left the room.
That was strange.. he's like a stranger to me right now, but something just doesn't feel right in my gut.
I proceed to change out of the hospital gown I had been trapped in for two months and gracefully pulled the black dress over m head. It felt much different then the hospital gown.
Much better.
I throw the hospital gown on the bed and proceed to walk past the curtain where I see my fiancee waiting for me in a chair. He's on his phone not paying attention.
Something doesn't feel right, not about him. This 'hospital' doesn't feel right either.
"Ok," i said, grabbing his attention.
"Mi amour, you look amazing!" He stood from his chair and walked towards me.
He tried to pull me in for a kiss but I pushed him away gently.
"I'm sorry, I know you said I'm your fiancee and all but I just don't remember so I just don't feel comfortable with that right now. Also, does't this hospital feel a bit strange to you? It doesn't feel right."
"I understand not wanting to take i fast, you can't remember anything so I don't want to push you. I just haven't kissed you in so long mi amour. Let's go home. Maybe that will help to jog you're memory."
He completely avoided what I said about this hospital, making it more suspicious. We went outside where a beautiful blood red Lamborghini espada was waiting for us. He unlocked the doors and opened the passenger side, motioning for me to get in. I did and he closed the door behind me before getting in the driver side and starting the luxurious car.
