After three months they returned to Earth more precisely in IASA's yard, unlike the previous time, Dave and John seemed happy they liked Azra's trip that she suggested. But Simon knew that they would jump again with time they were gone for three months who knows how much they could of went into the future. When they got off from the ship Earth seemed to be healing and its population was growing again. The scenery made Raven and Azra happy so much so they started laughing like maniacs.
“Could you guys cut it off!” hissed Sarah.
“Stop right there!!!” said a guard that quickly pointed his rifle at Sarah, Raven, and Azra got scared and stopped laughing. Behind the guard appeared a female figure carrying a tablet.
“All right arrest them all, and confiscate the ship,” said a lady with blonde hair and angry face with blue eyes wearing a rose skirt and rose coat.
“Wait what is this!?, what`s going on where is Khan!?” Benedict was trying to get answer`s but he already got cuffed.
“Another twenty years have passed, Dammit Lenov!, you know that`s not right and the best way to stop you is to arrest you all!” she came close to his face. “By the way, Khan is dead, don`t worry he died of old age, I`m Caty and I run things at IASA now,” she threw a smirky smile at him.
“Wait, what? What do you mean he is dead?” Benedict's voice and expression saddened a notch.
“You heard me correct, he is dead,” she smiled again. “Take him away!” she ordered.
“Wait! I know you from somewhere I am sure of it!!!” Benedict was yelling while he was being taken away.
“That is correct captain, you do know me,” Caty whispered to herself.
“She might be right, this is not right what we are doing? Our parents are dead for crying out loud, and if we had kids we`d probably outlive them too,” Benedict sat down on the bench that was fixed on the cell wall where they were locked.
“Wait, what are you talking about?” asked Simon as Raven also seemed to agree with Simon. “Kids?” Simon stood up. “Mate we were never meant to have kids nor a family, are you not seeing the bullshit outside? Do you think I would want my kids growing up in a world like this? And that is speaking if they survived,” he stood above Benedict who didn`t say a word.
“We need to steal the Star Fury and get out of here,” proposed Viktor.
“What?” Benedict was surprised by what Viktor said.
“We need to stop, we`ve gone too far this time literally and metaphorically,” Benedict starred at Viktor.
“I just have one question, why did you appoint me first officer if you plan on giving up now?” asked Azra.
“I`m sorry, I`m sorry…okay? Is that what you want to hear?” Benedict cried out. “I`m sorry I dragged you into all of this”
“No, you should not be saying sorry the whole expedition should thank you,” Simon encouraged him.
“Of all the billions of human beings, and we are the chosen ten that has the privilege to go to space and all thanks to you,” added Raven, John also reminded them of those six months they trained.
“We gave our best into those training`s and now you are going to throw all that away? What`s say you, Dave?”
“You guys are arguing about breaking out of here, and I am here thinking…I mean Khan is dead?” he looked at everybody. “Does nobody feel anything?”
“We do… as you know I was sort of close with him and I do feel bitterness but there`s nothing I could do now,” said Benedict.
“Well he kind of got us in this situation,” said John.
“Are you seriously blaming this on a dead man?” asked Sarah.
“No…but this situation,” John looked around.
“This situation was always coming, the disease, you think Khan could have stopped it?” Sarah asked him.
“All right enough,” Raven stepped up and calmed everybody as she crossed her arms and looked at Benedict. “Don`t throw it away, everything Khan did for us, so we can keep living as you said you were close, imagine the disappointment on his face if you were to give up now.”
“Okay…” exhaled Benedict. “We need to break out of here and steal the Star Fury,” said Benedict as Raven smiled, just as they were happy to hear that the door started clanking, Caty entered and took Benedict into another cell and moved closer to Azra and inspected her.
“Take her as well, we could use her for experiments,” she ordered.
“NO! Caty!!! You can`t! She is a living being!!!” Benedict rebelled as he was dragged by the guards. At that moment Dave stood in front of Caty.
“If you want to pass you are going to have to kill me,” he bravely faced Caty.
“I`m going to say this only once kid, move out of the way,” she hissed.
“Or what?” Dave courageously asked as one guard struck him with the gun on his head and knocked him out.
“You will never get out of this Caty!!!” Simon threatened as he held Dave. Alexander was angry and was throwing everything that came into his hands.
“We must come up with a plan,” proposed Raven.
At Caty's office, Azra was tied to a chair, while Caty behind her was preparing instruments to begin the experimental process. Azra's screams and shouting could be heard through the corridors, as everybody could hear it Benedict was knocking with all the strength he had on the bars of the cell he was locked in.
“You know that banging on the door won`t help you?” said a mysterious voice from the back of the cell.
“Excuse me…but who are you?” Benedict turned.
“Oh…I`m just a traveler like you,” the voice replied.
“Oh, yeah? Well, why are you in here for?”
“I went to the moon all by myself, had help from a friend to help me build the shuttle, the name`s Peter Diederich by the way,” he presented himself. “If it were to be the old IASA they would have been proud, but there`s something evil in this new IASA” added Peter as he moved out from the darkness revealing his face Benedict instantly recognized him. “How have you been old friend? It`s been decades,” Peter was older now, his face was older along with his mind and thoughts, he and Benedict hugged it out it wasn`t the reunion they had hoped.
“It`s not IASA, it`s the one who is in charge that`s evil,” replied Benedict. “We have to get out of here.”
“Yeah, don`t sweat it my friend is about to come now he will free us both.”
At the same moment, the cell door opened a figure dressed as a guard entered.
“Peter we have to get out of here!!” he was in a hurry.
“Jackson buddy,” he tapped him on the shoulder. “He is the one that helped me build the shuttle,” Peter looked at Benedict. “Come one let's go to the hangar I know where Star Fury is,” said Peter.
“No I must save Azra and the others,” said Benedict.
“What happened to you?” asked Peter.
“Long story,” replied Benedict. “But basically we got arrested for time travel.”
“Is that so?” asked Peter.
“Can`t you tell?” Benedict looked at Peter.
“Well we are pretty much the same age and you are well…old,” said Benedict.
“Oh, yeah spot on, the right way to kick off a reunion after all these years,” Peter got mad.
“All right then you are old-ish,” Benedict changed his statement. “How do you know each other?” asked Benedict.
“He works here undercover, always has been,” explained Peter.
“Since the time of Khan,” added Jackson. “Word was spreading someone by the name of Hex was around, a dangerous man they said, Khan started losing his mind until the inevitable…” Jackson`s voice broke down.
“Khan also warned me of someone named Hex, what do you reckon?” Peter looked at Benedict.
“I don`t know…” he was confused, he could have sworn he heard the name somewhere before but couldn`t remember.
“Caty on the other hand, believed all to be just a bunch of conspiracy theories,” spoke Jackson. “She turned the board of directors against Khan, who would want a crazy person on board when so much money and stocks are on the line.”
“Board of directors? I thought it was non-profit?” asked Benedict.
“After the plague Earth started healing, the population grew, humans got comfortable again, started taking trips, and who better to supply with shuttles and space ships than IASA?” spoke Peter. “We also did it, he scheduled the trips undercover,” Peter looked at Jackson. “And I flew them… had to make a living somehow. Until they caught me, luckily it was only me, Jackson wasn`t discovered.”
“You could have just told them that you are the great Peter Diederich, an officer of the Star Fury,” said Benedict.
“Nah… never wanted the fame, it could sometimes attract the wrong audience,” he spoke.
“Ain`t that the truth,” said Benedict quietly.
As much as they enjoyed getting reunited, the work had to be done and people had to be rescued, they separated, the captain went to save Azra, and Peter to release the rest. Peter opened the cell door where the others were locked.
“Guard!!! Get him!!” yelled Simon.
“Woah, Woah guys it`s me!”
“I`ll be damned, Peter?” Simon was confused.
“Yeah, it`s me, so… hey guys, not the reunion I was hoping,” he smiled nervously. “All right, hmm,” he cleared his throat. “I`ve come to rescue you.”
“Do you have weapons for us?” Raven asked him.
“No, there`s not enough time we have to get out of here.”
“Yes but, where`s Benedict?” asked Zack.
“He went in Caty`s office to help Azra,” Peter answered.
“I`m sorry he went where?” Sarah looked at Peter with disbelief.
“Then we`ve got to help him,” proposed Alexander, Dave agreed and went with him as Peter gave his weapon to Dave.
Caty held Azra as a living shield, while Jackson pointed his weapon and said to release Azra. The door opened and Dave struck Caty from behind with the gun, and she briefly lost consciousness.
“We better get out of here immediately,” warned Alexander, Benedict held Azra as Dave directed the pipe from the gun to Caty's head to finish the job.
“Dave, don`t do it, don`t put blood on your hands,” Benedict advised him against it as Dave just looked at him angrily.
“She will return and hunt us,” warned Dave.
“If she does then we will deal with her, besides she is not worth it,” said Benedict.
“People like this don`t deserve to live captain,” said Dave.
“Dave please don`t, I know you are a better person than this,” Benedict tried to persuade him, time was fleeting guards were running at them Caty activated the alarm since before she was knocked out, Dave had to make a decision fast.
“We can get away here and now with no consequences, you kill her and we will have the most powerful corporation hunting for our heads around the galaxy,” said Benedict.
“Ah f**k! Fine!” he yelled as he breezed past Benedict who looked around the office and took Caty`s laptop.
“Keep your heads down!!!” yelled Viktor as the guards started shooting lasers at them.
They got out as Peter opened the door of the hangar at that moment Caty regained consciousness and shouted at the guards to chase them. When the hangar opened, the first thing that fell into their eyes was the nose of Star Fury, the captain was happy to see it but there wasn`t much time to admire the sight of the ship, in all that noise Jackson said farewell to Peter and disappeared out of sight, Peter yelled at him to come back but it was futile. Everybody got in the ship but Benedict returned, offering his hand to Peter. “Come on!!” the captain yelled, Peter didn`t have much time to think as he accepted the offer and entered Star Fury.
“They are still after us captain,” Dave was livid.
“Not for long, Sarah get this ship to ninety degrees,” ordered Benedict. Sarah got the ship in a vertical position whilst destroying the whole hangar, the chief of the guards ordered everyone to run away from the blast zone because from the launch they would be burned alive by the thrusters. Benedict warned Peter to take a grip on something and could later admire the beauty of the ship. The captain ordered John to hit the lever as he heeded the order and instantly shifted the handle from one end to the other end as the thrusters gave it all their maximum and started melting everything that was below them.
One of the weapons used for self-defense registered the Star Fury as a hostile ship by firing a rocket and hitting it. Their lips fluttered from the high speed and the air resistance almost tore the ship in two, Peter stretched out from Benedict's chair and held on for dear life. The chief guard looked at the sky with a face darkened by the smoke.
“Why didn`t you shoot at them? Why did you let them go!?” he yelled at Jackson.
“They are my friends,” he said.
“What!?” the chief had no time to react as Jackson heated up and fired a couple of lasers into the heads of the chief and his guards that followed him.
“Ma`am!” he came running out from the hangar as he fell on her feet. “They killed everyone, help me,” his acting was very good. She looked at the Star Fury with anger in her face.
“Earth command to ISS please respond,” Caty called out through the radio.
“ISS to ground control what can we do for you?” an astronaut responded to the call.
“There`s a ship in low Earth orbit, I want it taken down!” said Caty.
“Uhh… ok, what`s the name and how does it look?”
“Star Fury and it looks sort of like a bug!” said Caty. “I want it done, no questions asked, these are orders from the directors of IASA!”
“Wait isn`t Star Fury the famous…”
“I said no questions asked!” yelled Caty. “What`s your name?” Caty asked him.
“It`s Tom ma`am,” he replied.
“Listen here Tom, do this, and I might consider giving you a promotion to major!” she persuaded him as he accepted the offer.
The captain got up from his chair and informed them that they had a new member on the expedition, and that's Peter, not that he was new but rather he gave him a welcome back.
“What happened to Jackson, where did he go?” Benedict asked.
“He didn`t want to come with us,” replied Peter.
“So are we finally going to go beyond?” asked Azra.
“Yes, yes sure all right John full speed toward another universe or something,” Benedict was acting like a little kid.
“What is wrong with you?” Raven asked him, Benedict told them he wanted to find out the answers to the things that happened to them so far and also he is going to see Einstein.
“Excuse me…but how exactly are you going to see Einstein?” asked Simon.
“If you travel far enough from the Earth so much so that light takes time to get to certain points you can even observe the earth in the Stone Age, with large enough telescope of course,” explained Peter as Zack starred at him strangely and walked up to him, perhaps he was looking at his competitor. “You learn a thing or two from all those trips,” he looked strangely at Zack who was approaching him.
“Which we happen to have such telescope,” Zack said to him as they looked at each other for some time. “I mean it`s not that big, but it`s lenses are modified by advanced civilization`s,” he added, it was clear a tension was rising between them. Alexander asked what would happen now as Simon told him that his mind would be shattered by facts. Dave even said philosophizing intensifies.
“Your head is younger than your feet,” Zack started first.
“It`s simple time dilation, which happens by gravity,” replied Peter. “You can`t control the tide if the moon does not cooperate,” Peter started polymerizing.
“It`s simple physics, but the sun can,” replied Zack. “The sun is actually not yellow,” continued Zack.
“It`s white, but the atmosphere on Earth messes with our perception of how we observe it,” Peter confirmed that. “It takes eight minutes for the light of the sun to reach Earth,” Peter continued.
“And I`m seeing you both 0,3 nanoseconds in the past, so shut up both of you!!!” Azra yelled at them as everybody looked at her with fear.
“Okay what the f**k is that?” said Viktor quietly.
“What!?” Azra looked at the window and saw a large metallic structure that looked as if containers were stacked on top of each other and connected by tunnels in space.
“It`s the ISS!” said Benedict. “A lot of time has passed, it`s become a beast now!” he looked at it.
“Yeah well, they have their weapons pointed at us!” said Dave.
“Caty`s orders!” said Peter.
“Okay let`s get the f**k out here!” ordered Benedict as the Star Fury activated the vortex and got sucked into it before the ISS could even get in firing range. Benedict planned on going to the telescope until Simon stopped him. “Well aren`t we going to eat first,” Simon asked as Benedict kept starring at him.
“What?” Simon was confused.
“That sound…” Benedict looked around as he opened the door to the hall and saw as the whole corridor was covered in smoke and the alarm blared.
