Terarium

Benedict finally got the chance to sit down on the ship and relax as they were on the way to exiting the universe. He turned on the laptop that he stole from Caty and poked about. On the screen, he saw a couple of folders concerning the situation of Earth and its history and some folders were a piece of personal information on some individuals… pretty weird thought Benedict.
“What are you looking at?” Zack asked as he walked together with Azra.
“Come and see for yourself,” Benedict turned away from the screen.
“Before that, would you be interested in knowing the time?” Zack was ready to pull out the pocket watch that he took from Dave in order to make fun of him with what always being annoying with the pocket watch.
“Dave I know you are excited about the pocket watch, but I need you to stop with it,” Benedict smiled at Zack both of them making fun at him.
“Fair enough,” Zack walked toward the laptop and as soon as Zack laid eyes on the screen he instantly saw Khan and Jane as that brought him old memories and kept digging through the laptop. Azra was pretty shocked to see them looking at a picture of Caty.
“Jane!!!” yelled Zack.
“What?” Everybody looked at him.
“It`s her, that`s how you know her…” said Zack as he turned toward Benedict.
“That`s how I know who?” he asked him.
“Zack, what are you talking about?” Azra asked him.
“Caty is Jane,” he surprised them out of nowhere.
“I`m sorry what?” Benedict asked.
“Look, captain,” said Zack as he stepped away from the screen.
“What? It does look like her but…” Benedict took his eyes away from the screen and looked at Azra and Zack.
“That`s because it`s her,” said Zack.
“How the hell is this possible?” asked Sarah who walked in on them.
“I don`t know, I did some digging and found out that she went by the name of Jane and then Caty,” explained Zack.
“How the hell did she live this long?” asked Benedict.
“I don`t know,” answered Zack.
“You mean Jane the very same one that trained us and everything?” asked Sarah.
“The very same one,” replied Zack.
“Whatever it is, it`s not natural, besides she is evil,” said Sarah.
“Right it might be better if we don`t tell anyone about this for some time,” said Benedict as everybody agreed and looked at the screen again seeing a familiar face. “It`s her…” he said quietly.
“Who?” asked Sarah.
“Simon`s girlfriend…” answered Benedict.
“Clara?” asked Zack.
“No…” Benedict looked at everybody. “Back on Earth, he had a girl that he was really into until she disappeared with her family nowhere to be found.”
“So what happened?” asked Sarah.
“According to here…” Benedict leaned toward the screen. “She…died.”
“What? How!?” Zack was shocked.
“Disease,” Benedict read from the screen. “Caused by… Terarium?” he was confused.
“Terarium… isn`t that the new element people found and gave us new technologies thanks to its finding,” said Sarah.
“I would say so,” agreed Benedict. “But somehow it is deadly,”
“How`s it causing all of this?,” asked Azra as Benedict leaned on the screen again and read: “Apparently it kickstarts a virus inside a human`s body and it starts to kill everything on the inside…”
“What are the symptoms?” she asked again.
“No symptoms, just death, and in the end…Vomiting blood, blood leaking from the eyes….” Benedict turned with disgust.
“Those are the same things that we saw on the video you showed us?” Zack turned toward Azra.
“Yes… whatever this thing is it was designed to kill,” said Benedict. “You remember how Alexander exposed the virus to radiation and started expanding?” asked Zack.
“Yeah, so?” Azra was intrigued.
“It`s not the radiation…” Zack looked at them. “It`s the Terarium that`s mixed with it,” he finished.
“Raven said that there is something mixed up with radiation,” spoke Sarah. “Maybe they mixed it with radiation to multiply the thing itself…”
“So Alexander was wrong?” asked Benedict. “He told us there are some remnants within our DNA, but it all starts with humans bringing the Terarium on Earth.”
“He wasn`t technically wrong,” said Zack. “I just think it was the easiest theory he could think of.”
“Right… so the reason people couldn`t find a cure was that they thought it was the radiation that`s killing them instead of Terarium,” said Sarah.
“Sneaky little bastard,” said Benedict.
“Its sole purpose was to be sneaky that`s why it was invented and put on those rockets,” said Azra.
“But Caty knew,” said Zack. “It wasn`t sneaky enough, she could have told everybody it was Terarium and not radiation.”
“But she didn`t,” Benedict looked at him. “Khan warned us about ‘they’ an organization that knew all along and failed to find the cure,” spoke Benedict.
“Everybody is dead because of her, our friends, our family, just because she stayed quiet,” said Sarah.
“What the hell kind of person would do that?” asked Azra.
“Caty apparently,” said Benedict as Zack kept rummaging through the laptop reading the history of “The Organization.”
“It says that The Organization existed, much before the time of the plague, it wasn`t ordinary people, but governors and directors of powerful corporations,” Zack kept reading. “They were looking for a cure, but didn`t find any,” he looked away and paced around. “They wanted to find the cure when no one even knew there was a plague, and once it went viral they would profit from it. No not just profit but take full control of Earth,” finished Zack.
“Look,” Sarah pointed at the screen that had an image of the members of The Organization. It had Khan and Adam as well. Benedict leaned to get a better look and was devastated to see them both in the image. “That`s why they say never meet your heroes,” said Benedict while being disappointed.
“Guess that would explain why Khan was guilty when he explained to us about the plague,” said Zack.
“But eventually they realized it was bad right? I mean it is their rebellious attitude that made us happen that made this expedition happen,” said Sarah.
“I do not know what to believe anymore,” Benedict stood up.
“Well then what do we do?” asked Sarah.
“Not sure there`s anything we can do, people have died, whoever invented this thing probably has the cure for it,” said Benedict.
“And it`s probably dead,” added Zack.
“What do you mean?” Sarah was confused.
“Terarium was invented on Tera since they used it in the rockets, which also happens to be the place where everything was destroyed and there nothing left, not a single trace of clue nor record on that planet, now as you know this was a long time ago and nobody has ever lived that long,” explained Zack.
“Right…” Benedict stood up. “I`ll tell Alexander and Raven about this but I wouldn`t count on it,” he walked away.
