Rejecting Mauro’s proposal to go back to the district, where I would have been safer, I got my car and went back, to pass what little remained of the night in my new home. As soon as Furia noticed the headlights of the car, he got alarmed, and I had to spare some time, dedicating some small attentions to him, to calm him. I spent a sleepless night. It was the first time in my entire career that I had found myself in a situation of such extreme danger.
