There was chatter all around them, muffled but clear all the same. They spoke to each other with sparkles in their eyes, the soft glow of the candles reflecting their excitement. Marcus leaned in slightly, his voice filled with curiosity. "So, Gianna, what made you say yes to coming out with me tonight?" Gianna smiled, her eyes meeting his. "Honestly, I've never felt as though I could have a connection with anyone until I met you, so I wanted to see where this could possibly lead." He nodded, his expression thoughtful. "I feel the same way. There's something about you. It just feels like this could go somewhere." She blushed, her heart racing. "I'm glad to hear that. I was hoping you'd feel the same." Marcus reached across the table, gently brushing her hand with his fingers. "I do, Gianna. Tonight is just the beginning of something wonderful. I can feel it." She squeezed his hand, her smile widening. "To many more nights like this, then?" "Absolutely," Marcus agreed, his eyes twinkling with promise. "To us." They shared a laugh over a funny story Marcus told about his childhood. Then Marcus looked over with a gentle look in his eyes. "So, Gianna, where are you from?" he asked. Gianna smiled sweetly, saying, "I'm from Tuscany. I lived there until I was one. Then we moved here to Florida." Marcus leaned back, a look of surprise and admiration on his face. "Tuscany, really? That's amazing. I've always wanted to visit Italy. Do you ever go back to visit?" Gianna nodded, her eyes lighting up with fond memories. "Yes, we try to go back every few years to visit family. Tuscany is beautiful, and it always feels like home. You should definitely visit someday; it's a place where you can truly feel the romance and history in the air." Marcus smiled a big smile, his cheeks kind of flushed with blush. "I will be sure to visit one day," he said, gleaming over how beautiful Gianna looked in that moment. He looked down and then back up, lust in his eyes. "You really are so beautiful," he said. Gianna, smiling, blushing ever so slightly, replied, "Thank you, Marcus. You're making me blush." Both of them giggled and took a sip of the champagne. Soon their dinner came to the table. Both of them had ordered the exact same pasta meal, and everything felt just right. Marcus twirled his fork in the pasta, looking up at Gianna with a playful grin. "I guess great minds think alike here. This pasta looks amazing." Gianna laughed softly, nodding. "Absolutely. I guess we both have excellent taste." As they began eating, Marcus asked, "So, what do you miss most about Tuscany?" Gianna's eyes sparkled as she thought for a moment. "Well, I can't really miss much. I was only one when we left, but from what I've seen in pictures and from visiting, I feel as though I miss the rolling hills, the vineyards, and the way the sun sets over the countryside. It's like a painting, really. And, of course, the food. There's nothing quite like authentic Tuscan cuisine." Marcus nodded, captivated by her description. "It sounds incredible. Maybe one day you can show me around." Gianna smiled warmly. "I'd love that, Marcus. It would be a dream come true to share my homeland with someone special." As they finished their meal, Marcus leaned back in his chair, a contented smile on his face. "I have to say, Gianna, this has been one of the best dates I've ever had." Gianna beamed, her eyes reflecting the warm candlelight. "I feel the same way, Marcus. Everything was just perfect, from the food to the company." Marcus chuckled softly. "I agree. I haven't laughed this much in a long time. And the food was incredible, but I think the company made it even better." Gianna's cheeks flushed slightly. "You're too sweet. I really enjoyed getting to know you better. It's not every day you meet someone you just click with so easily." Marcus reached across the table, gently taking her hand. "Here's to many more dates like this one." Gianna squeezed his hand, her smile widening. "I can't wait, Marcus. Tonight was just the beginning." In that moment, looking into Marcus's eyes, Gianna forgot all about how her dad left many years ago. She finally felt like she believed in love again, like she believed in a fairy tale. And that was all that had been missing from her life—the belief in a fairy tale. Marcus gently laid his hand on Gianna's face, gently stroking down with his thumb. Their eyes met, both with a sparkle of longing within them. Gianna started feeling like her heart was glowing, beating faster and faster. She had no idea what she was feeling, as it was all new to her. But Marcus leaned in and said, "Gianna, is it okay if I kiss you?" She nodded, a smile on her face, her cheeks slightly red from blush. He leaned in closer, their lips meeting in a gentle kiss. It felt like it was lasting forever, but not long enough. Gianna felt like she was floating. It was the best kiss anyone could ever think of. Right then, they moved their faces away from each other, looking deep into each other's eyes. A smile gleamed over both of their faces, and Marcus said, "Gianna, walk along the beach with me." Gianna smiled the biggest possible smile. "Yes," she exclaimed, "I would love to." Marcus grabbed Gianna's hand, leaving his card to be able to pay for the bill. They walked out the back door of the restaurant onto the long sandy beach, the moon shining down on them, making it every bit more beautiful of a night. They danced, the wind in their hair. They even ran through the water, the sea gently covering their feet. Soon they fell into each other's arms, both laughing with joy. Gianna looked up at Marcus. "Marcus," she said, "this has been the most wonderful night of my life. Will I see you again?" Marcus looked down at Gianna and kissed her gently on the forehead. "Of course you'll see me again. I wouldn't miss it for the world." As they walked back to the car, their clothes a little wet from the sea, sand on their legs and hands, Gianna turned to Marcus with a smile. "The moon is so beautiful tonight," she said, glancing up at the glowing orb in the sky. Marcus nodded, his eyes also drawn to the moon. "It really is. But I think what made tonight truly magical was the time we spent together." Gianna laughed softly, shaking some sand from her hand. "I agree. That was the most fun I've ever had. Running through the water, dancing on the beach... it felt like a dream." Marcus squeezed her hand gently. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. I haven't had this much fun in a long time either. We should do this more often." Gianna looked up at him, her heart swelling with happiness. "I'd love that, Marcus. Tonight was perfect." Marcus drove Gianna home, the car filled with the soft hum of the engine and the lingering joy of their evening. When they arrived at her house, he walked her to the door, their hands still intertwined. As they reached her doorstep, Marcus leaned in and they shared a gentle kiss. "I really enjoyed tonight," he whispered, his eyes locked on hers. "Me too," Gianna replied softly, her heart racing. "It was perfect." With one last smile, Gianna turned and went inside, gently shutting the door behind her. Marcus stood there for a moment, savoring the memory of the night before heading back to his car, a smile still on his face. Gianna leaned up against the door, a smile spreading across her face. She turned to see her mother in the corner, watching her with a knowing smile. Gianna smiled back, feeling the warmth of the evening still lingering in her heart.
