Chapter 4: Mansion

After I recover from what seems to be an awake nightmare, I slowly open the door. Once they saw me, They both stood up with the help of their matching cranes. They hurriedly walk in front of me and I immediately approach them. "Hija, you’re home!” they both greeted me with a huge smile on their faces leaving the unfinished chessboard behind. “I just got home!” I say while walking towards them, and then give them a warm hug. The warmth that I felt the moment my fingertips made contact with them makes me want to cry. I'm never used to seeing these two old men being as affectionate and caring as now. My Grandfathers are not talkative not like my Grandmothers. So, seeing them like this is very heartwarming for me. I hug them both tightly and trying to hold back the tears that are at the edge of my under-eye. And then I saw the chessboard. "So rude of me! Continue the play!” I say as I pull myself back. "Who's winning here anyway?" I ask, trying not to drop a single tear. "Uhh, Mister, err, old man here is getting rusty and losing the game." Says grampa Kevin as he points at the other old man. "I'll leave you two to it, okay?" I beamed at the two like they were little boys. "Uhh, what about the, err, your, err, trip, darling?" Gramps Tristopher asked. "We'll talk about it when dinner's ready. Now, why won't you continue the game and let's talk about who won, is that a deal?" I replied. They both smiled at me as if I was their mother promised to give them their favorite chocolate bar if they behave nicely. I open the door as I walk out and take the last glance before closing the door shut, they are already taking their seats and started the game. As I leave the room, what happened earlier takes me back. I took a deep breath and starts to walk away unbothered... At least I try to act like one. From the distance, I still hear my cousins, aunts, and uncles laughing and chatting while the children are now inside the mansion. Some of them are either playing soccer, playing dollhouse, or just chasing one another. I climb upstairs, head into my room which is, for what I remember, located on the 3rd floor. Midway of walking up the stairs, I saw my door, my room's door. It looks... Different and at the same time... Familiar. I continue walking up and open my door slowly... It's changed... The bright pink color of my walls is now... Black with a hint of gold and white... Everything is not in place... From what it looks like, it's renovated and fully refurbished. I walk inside, still shocked, and trying to process what's happening. My room is already decorated, it's... Well, fancier... As I gulp everything in, but I can't help my eyes to explore. My single bed is replaced with a queen-sized one, with matching two nightstands. The opposed wall has a huge flat-screen TV hanging on it. And just below the TV is a foyer table that is filled with novels that I haven't read before. Then, there's a huge bay window that has a very cozy sofa cabinet attached to it. But one thing that caught my attention... This big bulletin board is filled with pictures... Of me, my family, and a boy... Strangely... It has the same features as the man I met on the airline... Solomon... I pulled myself back and try to think of something else. The only new thing is the bed... And... A huge white dressing table with light bulbs around the mirror decorated with branded makeup, brushes, and other things... The room is a lot to take in, walls are in black, the corners are gold, and my things are in the range shade of white and gray. I saw my luggage on my bed, it just needed to be unpacked. But I decided not to, and try a different option, explore my room more. The bathroom is nothing special, it is renovated but nothing has made me shock or surprised. What does surprise me is a door that is usually not here, I don't remember my bathroom having a... Door. As curious as I'll ever be, I opened it. And my soul almost left my body... It's a walking closet... What in the actual f**k. Here... It's like I don't need to shop in the mall at all...Everything is... In here. Dresses, Robes, Pants, Jackets... I-uh... Some drawers are full of underwear garments, and accessories... What do I do with these! I leave the bathroom and in full rage, Why is there a lot of clothes? God knows how important it is for me to save god f*****g damn it! I sit in my bed and start to emaculate don’t f*****g need all of these!! Why do they even bother?! The thought annoyed me so much, I mean, do I need to wear all those dresses?! All those clothes?! Do I need to use all of these?! And what am I going to do with these clothes I’m comfortable with?! I cool myself off by changing into my most comfortable top and bottoms and head downstairs I still hear them laughing from outside, and the children are still playing, then Anne held my hand, I gasp from shock. “Anne! You startled me!” I gasp while looking at her. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to” she replies with sincerity in her eyes, “What is it, Anne?” I ask her. “Dinner’s almost ready” she is. "I’ll be right there! I just need some air...” I reply and she nods then ran away. I head outside as I said to Annie. I was really serious about needing some air after all that dresses, and GOD the room is a lot to take it. Closing my eyes, breathing everything in, it makes me calmer, air does soothe me... I open my eyes, I saw what looks like a barrier... That is made of vines... Out of curiosity, again, I head into where it was located... I'm so eager to find what is in there. I wonder what it is... At first glance, I thought I finally found the border of the Villa. But as I try to go around it, it seems to have a shape of a rectangle. I continue to search, maybe, there is a way to get inside... A door perhaps, or maybe an arch... A garden? I never knew we have one... I mean that's impossible... For a property this big. But I didn't know they built one. I open the door slowly as I am too scared that it might break because of how they designed the door. And just as I expected... It is a garden. The inside walls are filled with beautiful red and yellow flowers. Oh! I remember! Dad and my two grandpas made this. They built this with their own hands! They built this especially for me because I am the only female out of their grandchildren. They built this maybe when I was around 4 years old. I then saw this beautiful swing. The vine covered its pole and its chains that allowed the wooden chair to hang. The inside is filled with lights too, but... It's like fireflies. They are small and many. As if they were flying. Being inside this... Garden, It calms me more. I sat to the swing carefully, too scared that I might break it and get hurt. "So... lo... mon..." s**t! A thought that turned into words. I touched my lips, thinking that what I said was something sinful or a bad curse, or something that is illegal to be said. He disturbs me, he's haunting me. I was put under a spell, his spell. How can I not stop thinking about him? He's been bugging me since we part ways. Damn, this man! But there is something in his posture that makes something familiar. I don't where to point it. I imagine those eyes, those dark brown, mesmerizing, haunting, and dangerous eyes looking at me once more. Those dazzling lips look soft to kiss as he releases every word. I want to see him, again. I pray to God, I really need to see him. But like I said... He looks familiar, it's as if we have seen each other before. Have I known you before? Why do you look so Familiar, Mr. Solomon? Have I already met you? “Ms. Luna?!” I heard from the distance, I immediately launch out of the garden, alarmed that someone is looking for me. Just as I was about to close the door Mrs. Cane came running. “Mrs. Cane? Do you need me?” I ask her. “Yes, the dinner’s ready!” she smiles. “Okay, I’ll be right behind you!” I reply as she left first, I lock the door of the garden then leave.
