Chapter 8: "The Confrontation"
Briana's eyes never left Xavier's as she confronted him about his past. She had been investigating him for weeks, and she had finally uncovered the truth.
"You're not who you say you are, are you?" Briana asked, her voice firm.
Xavier's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice cold.
Briana smiled, a sense of satisfaction washing over her. She had finally caught him in a lie.
"I'm talking about your family's past," she said. "I'm talking about the secrets you've been keeping from me."
Xavier's eyes flashed with anger, but Briana stood her ground. She was not going to back down.
"How did you find out?" Xavier asked, his voice low and menacing.
Briana shrugged. "I'm a journalist," she said. "It's my job to uncover the truth."
Xavier's eyes seemed to bore into hers, as if he was trying to see into her soul.
"You don't understand what you're dealing with," he said. "You don't understand the danger that's out there."
Briana's heart skipped a beat as Xavier's words hung in the air. What danger was he talking about? And why was he trying to scare her?
But Briana was not going to back down. She was going to see this through, no matter what.
"I'm not afraid of you," she said, her voice firm.
Xavier's eyes seemed to flash with anger, but then he smiled, a cold, calculated smile.
"We'll see about that," he said.
