Chapter 3: "The Investigation" Briana spent the rest of the day researching Xavier Blackwood's background, looking for any clues that might explain why her editor had assigned her to write a profile piece on him. As she dug deeper, Briana discovered that Xavier Blackwood was a highly private person, with very little information available about his personal life. She found a few articles about his business dealings, but they were all very vague. Briana's curiosity was piqued. What was Xavier Blackwood hiding? And why was her editor so interested in him? Determined to get to the bottom of the story, Briana decided to pay a visit to Xavier Blackwood's office. She arrived at the building, a sleek and modern skyscraper in the heart of the city. As she stepped into the elevator, Briana felt a sense of trepidation. What would Xavier Blackwood be like in person? Would he be willing to talk to her? The elevator doors opened, and Briana stepped out into a luxurious reception area. A sleek and modern desk sat at the far end of the room, behind which a beautiful young woman with piercing green eyes sat typing away on her computer. "Can I help you?" the woman asked, looking up from her screen. "I'm here to see Xavier Blackwood," Briana said, trying to sound confident. The woman raised an eyebrow. "Do you have an appointment?" she asked. Briana hesitated. She hadn't actually made an appointment. "No," she admitted. "But I'm a journalist, and I'm writing a profile piece on Mr. Blackwood." The woman nodded. "Let me check with him," she said. Briana nodded, taking a seat in one of the plush chairs that lined the reception area. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What would Xavier Blackwood be like in person? As she waited, Briana couldn't help but notice the opulent decorations that lined the reception area. There were expensive-looking paintings on the walls, and a beautiful crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. After a few minutes, the woman returned. "Mr. Blackwood will see you now," she said, smiling. Briana stood up, smoothing out her dress. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. As she followed the woman to Xavier Blackwood's office, Briana couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What would he be like in person? Would he be willing to talk to her? The woman opened the door to Xavier Blackwood's office, and Briana stepped inside. The office was just as opulent as the reception area, with expensive-looking furniture and decorations. Xavier Blackwood sat behind his desk, a look of intense focus on his face. He looked up as Briana entered, and their eyes met. Briana felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. Xavier Blackwood was even more handsome in person, with piercing blue eyes that seemed to bore into her soul. "Ah, Briana," he said, standing up. "Welcome to my office." Briana smiled, trying to sound calm. "Thank you, Mr. Blackwood," she said. Xavier Blackwood smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Please, call me Xavier," he said. Briana nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe this interview wouldn't be so bad after all.
