For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. I could feel my pulse pounding in my ears. My heart beating like it was about to burst.
What if it’s not Paul? What if it’s the person from the email?
Without thinking too much, I grabbed a wine bottle. Intent on smashing it hard on anyone that wasn't Paul.
My left hand hovered over the handle for a second, while the other raised the bottle— ready to swing if I had to.
I turned the door knob slowly, its sound filling the silence. I opened the door a bit, peeked through the little opening. My eyes landed on the person's boot.

I quickly dragged my gaze up to the face. “Paul!”
