Chapter 4

438 Words
After meeting up with Rachel again, I wished her good night and to call my work cell. I left her my cell phone. I walked past Max’s house, to confirm that he was still there. He was. So, I made my way back to my house. Waiting for the worst from my mother. When I got home, there was the homeowner waiting on the steps. I greeted her. She greeted me with a hug. She was very nice to me. Not to my mother though. She asked me, what happened that morning. I told her in full honesty. She said that if that happens again, she is going to kick out my mother. I apologized and asked if my mother was home. She was home. I thanked her and went up the stairs to my place. Mother was sobbing at the table when I came in. She got up and rushed over to me. She hugged me tightly and apologized all over. I hugged her and asked what happened. She said that she threw Jacob out and tried to call me at work. Apparently, I must have been away. She smiled and said that I looked tired. So, we went to Barney’s down the street which was a local bar with great food and music. I didn’t want to go out but since it was on Mom, I went with her to keep her out of trouble. Who would have known that I was going to be the one in trouble? It was busy with people, shoulder to shoulder. Dancing and laughing. Mother got us seated right next to the dance floor. It did not take long for Mother to spot someone she wanted to meet and dance with. I wasn’t surprised nor was I happy about it. She came here to party, not to be entirely with me. I got up to go home. I ordered a beer and left a note for Mother. I paid for the beer and left out the bar. What I did not know was that the beer was juiced for Mother. I began to feel woozy and sat at the only bus stop. Mother was still inside, and I used up all my money on Rachel and the bills. So, I couldn’t get a ride home. Or call anyone because I had the wrong cell phone. I could call Rachel because I saw Max inside the bar. I couldn’t ask Max because I was still heated at him about Claire. Here I sit and waited for the wooziness to subside. I must have fell asleep because that was all I remember.
