Curiosity to gun point

1096 Words
I dropped my cup, a spil of tea stained the table. I darted my eyes around the room. My chest tightened. I have been asking questions from Nathaniel about his deals. I never got and answer. If he answered, he never gave a definite answer. This is my chance of unraveling secrets he has been hiding. I peeped through the veranda, Nathaniel was communicating with two of his mod in his Mafia slang. He tapped his watch thrice. Nathan meant sticking to time. I hurried to our bedroom. Grabbed a fitted dress and brushed my hair; I stood by the window and watched his car alongside two other cars drive off and I immediately walked up to the driver. “I need you to take me out now, follow Nathan and his men now.” I get into the car in seconds as I watch him hesitate. “I don't think this is a good idea ma'am.” “I didn't ask for your thoughts, I asked you to follow them.” I snapped at him and he immediately started driving. After a few minutes, Nathan's car stops in front of a coffee shop and one of his men alights, returning with a brown bag then they drive off again. After two hours, they finally arrived at a warehouse and drove into the compound. “Wait here, I'll be back soon. Don't get caught.” “I still think this is a bad idea ma'am.” I scoff. “So do I.” I shrug nonchalantly and move away from him. I walk quietly up to the warehouse, it is enormous with security lights flickering unsteadily and a lot of open spaces around. I stay behind a row of parked trucks and move carefully toward the building as different voices reach me. “Why do you keep lying? Tell me the truth right now.” “I'm not lying, I swear I am telling the truth.” “Then explain to me why the shipment disappeared.” Another voice snapped and I didn't hear the next part clearly so I moved even closer then placed my ear by the door. I can't make out any differences in the voices so I created a small gap at the door to peep through. I finally spot Nathan standing, with his jacket gone and his sleeves rolled up. “Where are the keys Nathan?” “I have no idea of the keys Lovamir. I discovered you want control over the goods. That's my reason of standing before you." Lovamir laughs loudly then and I watch him look straight into the eyes of the other man beside him. “Where are the keys little boy.” He stretched out his hands. “I know nothing about the keys. Why asking for them. What are your intentions?" "You're telling the version of truth you think would keep you alive.” My fingers curl around the edge of the door as I wonder what I have just walked into. Nathan interrupts their argument “Someone inside your organisation is giving out secrets on Lovamir's mob to the cops.” We all froze in shock. Lova straightens “Then why hasn't anyone been caught?” Another huge tall man scoffs “Are you not aware that your gang is presently growing weak with so many members giving out important and sensitive information to the wrong party?” “ Choose your next words carefully David.” Nathan faced one of Lova's mob. “You’ve been losing money for months, routes have been exposed, deals have collapsed and an existing mole has been feeding information to your enemies. I have said nothing wrong.” I cover my mouth to stop myself from reacting. “ I am sure that it's someone very close to you that has been feeding off information, maybe even your wife.” Lova raised his voice. I suck in a breath as the whole atmosphere suddenly tenses immediately. Nathan moves towards David and bends to his level. For one terrible second, I wonder if he'd believe the man and consider me a threat but before I can hear his response, I feel a strange arm clamp around my mouth and I freeze as I feel the coldness of a gun at my temple. I followed Nathan out of curiosity but now I am with a total stranger without Nathan even knowing I followed him. I try to scream but no sound comes from me as tears pool at my eyes in panic; I don't want to die here in the hand of some stranger with no one knowing I even sneaked into the warehouse. I watch helplessly while squirming uncomfortably. “Say one more bad thing about my wife again David.” David moves back and bows in submission to Nathan. Nathan walks back to his seat. “Forgive me Don Nathan but if your wife is really as innocent as you think she is, why did she secretly follow you to this place?” Nathan scoffs then and looks straight into my eyes. “I've been aware of her presence since the moment she got here.” “Whoever you are, let her go before things get ugly.” “Of course I won't let her go.” The atmosphere becomes tense as everyone stares at each other in panic and unsettlement. “You should let her go because the only way you're leaving this place is in a body bag because you can go nowhere with her.” At this point, he pushes me fully into the meeting as I take in all the faces of everyone present fully and they are all powerful individuals in the Mafia world. Nathan suddenly stands and points a gun directly at us and at the person behind me who freezes then laughs in hysteria. “Hand over the keys to me or or I will kill her.” David scoffs and laughs “Are you plain stupid or just desperate?” The man moves from foot to foot nervously as he sees that no one is taking him seriously and immediately he releases the safety on his gun, I feel blood splutter all over my face and touch my face as “No..no…no..I can't die now, I have so much to do…please I don't want to die. Argggghhhh.” As I move, I discover the man lying on the floor already dead as Nathan walks up to me “Hello wifey.”I feel the whole place blurry as everything goes dark.
