CHAPTER 3 ALTHEA’S POV Staring at the large amount of work that I had to do, I couldn't help but groan angrily. “Is this my only reason for existence?” I asked no one In particular as I started getting the work done. Engrossed in my work, I felt the presence of Beta Alfred, I dreaded the sight of this man even his slight scent got me. Standing immediately, I stared at him. “I can see you keep growing wings daily,” he started, making me scoff internally. “That must be the only reason why you left the pack without informing anyone or did you think you would go Scott free?” he asked. Scared as I didn't expect to be caught, I bowed my head in anger as I tried controlling my tongue. “Weakling!” I heard the growling voice of the one I dreaded the most. “Alpha,” I said as I quickly got down on my knees, my voice still shaking from fear as I could remember what Beta Alfred had said earlier. “You defiled my order to leave the pack house,” he started saying with anger evident in his voice. “What do I do to disobedient servants?” He asked as I raised my head abruptly. Shaking my head vehemently, I knew what he was going to say next. “Lock her up!” Alpha Kian ordered as I started crying. “Please Alpha, I don’t want to go back there.” I pleaded as I tried fighting the guard who tried picking me up. “What are you still waiting for?” He questioned the guard. Dragged down the hallway, I felt empty. I was going back there, the place I had hated the most. I had almost gone insane the last time I went there and now I was back there again. “Please can you tell Karina about me,” I pleaded with the guard, he nodded slightly and left me alone. The whole room was pitch black, it was a normal room but staying there would make you go insane. The loneliness, I felt suffocated whenever I was here, it made me do insane things that I would never imagine doing. A room with no one to talk to, very small with no lightning. I could barely stand horizontally as it was too small for my figure. A FEW DAYS LATER I didn’t know how many days I had been locked up here, all I knew was that I was losing my mind. The alpha loved showing his superiority especially when it comes to me, he was just so cruel. I made a decision to stop acting weak again, though my wolf hadn't manifested I knew it was there somehow. It was just waiting for the right time. The guard passed me a book that I had requested, whenever I was here I loved reading to pass out time. I was back to it and didn’t think I was stopping any time soon. “Althea!” I heard Karina's worried voice as she panted heavily, it seemed she ran down here. “What the f**k are you doing?” She asked with an alarmed look, ignoring her as I felt a little bit angry at her. I was here because of her. “I will get you out of here soon, just don’t do anything foolish.” She managed to say before running back towards the entrance. Sliding against the wall, many thoughts ran across my mind. This was the reason why this place was unhealthy for your mental state. The air was fresh as I stepped out of the room, I walked to my room almost dead with no emotions. I had lost everything in that room, the little sanity I had was drained away. Staring at my reflection, I grabbed my shoe and flung it towards the mirror making it shatter in several pieces. Grabbing a pair of scissors, I immediately started cutting my hair until it was shoulder length. I wasn’t worried as I knew it was going to grow back anyway, I had very long hair, and no matter how I tried to cut it. It grew back to its size every time. “What is happening here?” Beta Alfred asked angrily as his eyes scanned around the room. Staring at him, I made sure my gaze didn’t break till he lowered his eyes first. “What the hell is wrong with you? How dare you?” He asked again before walking towards me and dragging me forcefully. Yanking my hands away from his, I growled. I was trying to control my anger, there was no doubt that he was stronger than me, and starting up a fight was stupid. I felt his large hands on my face. “Get to the kitchen and start your work!”He ordered as he pushed me roughly to the kitchen and made me crash on the bare floor once in a while. The kitchen was very untidy and I wondered why they just hated me, they were several other maids. Why do they keep doing this to me? No matter what, I wasn’t going to cry or plead anymore. They didn’t deserve that privilege any longer. I did all my work till it was late in the night, I noticed Karina hadn’t come to look for me since I had arrived. Something must have gone wrong in my absence. Walking to my room, I opened the door only to shut it back and head over to my friend’s room. Moving sneakily as I wasn’t permitted to set foot into this part of the pack house, I got to her room and opened it forcefully. “What’s wrong?” I asked her as I saw her face stained with tears. “Althea,” she cried more when she saw me. Giving me an embrace, I stiffened as I tried to adjust to it. “I am very much in pain,” she whined, making me nod. “It’s quite obvious,” I muttered under my breath as I tried to wiggle out of her tight embrace. Starting to explain everything that had happened in my absence, I couldn’t help but leave my mouth agape. “What!” I finally managed to say.
