CHAPTER 5 ALTHEA’S POV For how long was all of this going to be? Each day passed just makes it seem like I would never be out of this. Everyday it becomes more unfavorable. Losing hope wasn’t an option, I was going to strive to live. I decided that it was time for me to leave, one way or the other I had to do so. I wasn’t going to be used for eternity, I could remember vividly what Karina had told me yesterday. I had always felt disgusted by the Alpha’s action but this made me hate him. He didn’t deserve to be an Alpha, he didn’t deserve a beautiful daughter like Karina! “My parents sold me to the Alpha of the red moon pack ,” she cried into my shoulders. “What are you saying?” I was confused. “I am getting married to him.” She repeated again. “Is he your mate?” I was quite confused. “I was forced to go over to his place. He had offered them a nice piece of a treaty. They just wanted to be on his good side, he had requested for me in return.” She said with tears. I was ashamed of her parents, they didn’t care about Karina in all of this. Karina hadn’t seen him before, she didn’t know what he looked like, what he liked and so on.I couldn’t believe that they could do this to Karina, their only daughter. “What about your mate?” I asked again as it all sounded absorbed to me. “I have no choice but to reject him if I get to meet him in the near future.” She replied as I pulled her into a long embrace. “I won’t accept this, they can’t do this to you.” I said as I pulled out of the embrace. Ready to go over to their chambers, Karina was a sweet little girl. Her peaceful nature was enough to melt one’s heart. She was my best friend, my mind tugged me as I knew I was part of the reason she was sent there. “Let’s run away,” I told her. “We can’t, we are only going to end up being killed.” She said immediately, disagreeing with my suggestion. I couldn’t leave my friend to live with that beast, I had to do something as soon as possible. Just as I was about to say something, I heard the opening of the door. Hiding under the bed, I peeped to see that it was Luna Kaena. “Stop crying! You are only doing this to help your father, would you prefer to see him lose his rule?” She asked furiously to the crying Karina. “Look at me my daughter, you should know your father and I got your back,” she started saying. Standing up, Luna Kaena surveyed the room, checking everywhere before finally sitting back on the bed. “Was someone here?” She asked Karina firmly. “No mother, is anything wrong?” Karina asked with innocence and I thanked the moon Goddess for giving me a smart friend. “Take this potion, you have to apply a small amount of this into his meal for a week. He will be long gone in less than a month then we will come back for you.” Luna Kaena said as she handed the potion to Karina. “Can you hear yourself?” Karina asked abruptly as she flinged the bottle away. “You want me to commit murder?” She asked again furiously. “Quiet! Stop proving stubborn!” Luna Kaena said as she sat her daughter down. “The Alpha of the red moon pack has been threatening your father, just do this for us.” Luna Kaena said in a pleading tone as she started shedding fake tears. “I feel so disgusted. I never knew my father was a coward. Using his daughter to kill his enemy, he can’t even stand for his own pack. He can’t fight back for his own pack!” Karina shouted angrily, making her mother slap her furiously. Hitting her continuously, I grew angry as I came out of my hiding place. “You…. What are you doing here?” Luna asked as she made her way towards where I was standing. “Haven’t I told you to stop seeing my daughter?” She asked again as she finally got to me. Sending a slap towards my face which only made me grin. “The days of me crying are over, no amount of your beating can break me,” I said as I chuckled. “Karina was right, you are both cowards!” I spat out angrily. “He doesn’t even deserve to be called an alpha neither do you deserve your title, a man should always be brave enough to stand up for himself. He shouldn’t go through dubious ways, he shouldn’t play dirty.” I said, raising my voice slightly. Walking over to where the potion laid, I picked it up as I examined it. “Haven’t you thought about the consequences if she was caught?” I asked again. Before I could say something, Luna Kaena stopped me. Grabbing my throat, she stared at me with anger. “I can see you have grown wings,” she said before sending me flying across the room. The guards had taken me back to my room not caring about my state. Not being able to forget the look of pain in her eyes, I felt hatred for everyone. I had to make them pay, that I promise. I didn’t know why she liked me, since we were pups she had grown a special liking for me. She was always there for me and now she is gone. The only companion I had was gone! I was left alone in this cruel world and I had to save myself. I couldn’t talk to Karina before she left the pack house, my ribs still hurting from the impact it made to the wall. I knew I had to do something to save myself from this pain. Drifting off to sleep with immense pain all over my body, I felt myself floating. “Althea, the healing wolf.” I heard the voice say. “It is time for you to leave here, your mate needs you now! Go and search for him!” I heard the voice command as I woke up abruptly. “Healing wolf?…” I asked no one in particular.
