Alice
Later that afternoon, as I was washing up after training, I found myself lost in thought. Remi had been kind, patient, and always encouraging. But I still couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more at stake than just my training. The Silvermoon pack hadn’t forgotten about me. Josh hadn’t forgotten about me. And I knew, deep down, that I couldn’t outrun my past forever.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. I turned to see Remi walking into the cabin, his expression serious.
“There’s news,” he said, his tone unreadable.
“What is it?” I asked, my heart rate picking up. The look on his face made me uneasy.
“The Silvermoon pack is moving closer,” he said quietly. “They’ve been gathering strength, and it won’t be long before they make their move.”
My stomach dropped. The battle I had been dreading for so long was finally coming. And it was coming for me.
Remi walked closer, his gaze never leaving mine. “We’re ready, Alice. And I’ll be with you every step of the way. We’re not going to let them take you again.”
I nodded, though a cold pit had settled in my stomach. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but I knew one thing for certain: I wasn’t going to let Silvermoon control me anymore.
It was time to face the past. And this time, I wasn’t doing it alone.
