8 - Isaac the Neighbour

1568 Words
1 week later Lincoln's eyes moved around the living room, following the doctor's naked chest who doesn't seem to notice the attention he is getting from the prince. He had busied himself with eating a watermelon in the kitchen counter that Emanuel had sent over with a box of other groceries. But Lincoln knew there was something else in the house that he would rather have in his mouth right now. Dylan walked around tidying up the small mess they have accumulated throughout the week. He didn't like seeing the mess and he knew Lincoln hated it too. He was just too busy stressing about everything to bother cleaning so Dylan had taken it upon himself to do the cleaning around. Of course, he chose to complete the task in merely a pair of pajama pants that belonged to Lincoln. The house was slightly warmer today and he didn't feel the need for a shirt since nobody was around besides Abby and Lincoln. Plus, Lincoln didn't find the need to bring him any clothes so he had been exclusively wearing the prince's clothes. 'Missed one.' Lincoln said when he noticed a piece of discarded paper behind the sofa that Dylan didn't pick up. 'You know, you can help.' 'I don't feel like it.' Lincoln looked away and continued eating his watermelon in silence. 'Did the king update you on anything? How's it going at home?' Dylan asked and sat opposite Lincoln on the bar stool. 'He left a message. Your mum is being a f*****g nuisance nothing new there.' Lincoln said and popped a watermelon in his mouth. He moved his gaze to look outside the window to see Abby squatting by the pool looking at something on the ground. She has been spending a lot of time by the back yard dipping her toes in the shallow pool and picking flowers by the bush. Lincoln had studies this area within the last few days to make sure it would be safe to leave her unattended. But he would still look out and check regularly to make sure she is okay. He just didn't like keeping her in the house constantly. Dylan rolled his eyes at Lincoln's insult and took a seat opposite him on one of the bar stools. 'She's threatening to go to the news if we don't return you within a month.' Lincoln finished the last piece of watermelon and threw the bowl into the sink. 'I don't want to go home.' Dylan said, which shocked Lincoln slightly. Dylan had done a lot of thinking since being stuck in this house with Abby and Lincoln and he could say that he really does enjoy spending time here. Even though he wasn't allowed any communication and was basically treated as a prisoner by Lincoln, he almost didn't mind it. It gave him a well-needed off time from work and to be honest, Dylan couldn't think of anyone he would want to text or call. Being here made him realize that he didn't have many friends that he was close to and his relationship with his family is always work-related. Lincoln was his first friend in a long time. And even though he is being cold and mean, Dylan still felt more warmth and safety from him than he did with Will. 'Why not?' Lincoln asked. 'I enjoy being with you. Even though you've been cold and distant. It's nice just being near you and Abby.' Dylan said and looked down to avoid any eye contact. Lincoln kept his gaze on Dylan and tried to read his emotions. He seemed genuine in his words. And the past few days have been rather easy living with Dylan. Besides the occasional shirtless prance around the living room, Lincoln found Dylan to be bearable. He hadn't tried to contact his family or pull any escapes. From outside looking in, they looked to be a happy couple with their little just living in this small cottage. 'Well...good.' Lincoln simply said which made Dylan scoff and roll his eyes. After a few minutes of silence, both vampires felt their senses heightened. They're heard perked up and their breathing slowed down, trying to pick up any sound from the backyard. 'Abby.' Dylan turned to Lincoln with wide eyes and without wasting any second both jumped up from the stools and ran outside. Lincoln moved his gaze back and forth, scanning the pool first to see if she might have fallen in. Seeing the empty clear water he made his way to the small garden by the side and failed to locate the little. Dylan rushed to the front porch in hopes that she would be there but all he saw was birds on the ground picking for seeds. 'Abby!' Dylan heard Lincoln called out frantically and he joined in to call for her. 'Abbygirl!' Dylan shouted out. He was still shirtless and the breeze outside made his skin cold. It made him worry about wether Abby was dressed appropriately for the weather. She did put on a cardigan before leaving the back door but her dress was short. The two ran around the outskirts of the home, calling out for her every few minutes. 'Daddy!' Lincoln wiped his head around to where the sound came from. It was very faint and he almost didn't catch it. How far did she wander off? It wasn't like Abby to trail off without asking for permission. 'Abby!' both Lincoln and Dylan ran towards the direction of her voice and finally they spotted her on the far end of the road next to a man. Isaac. 'Fuck.' Lincoln said softly before speeding up. When he reached her he immediately grabbed her by her arms and brought her close to his chest, holding her tightly as not to let go. 'Why would you run off like that? Do you know how f*****g worried I was?' Lincoln screamed at her face, which made Abby pout at his tone. 'Abby, you know you can't do that. Why did you?' Dylan asked, crouching behind Lincoln with his hands patting her back to try and sooth her from Lincoln's outburst. 'He was calling me. He said there's something important he wanted to give me.' Abby said softly and pointed at the man standing a few step in front of them. Both Lincoln and Dylan c****d their head up and looked at Isaac who's eyes widened at the realisation. 'Holy shit.' he whispered to himself and backed away. 'What do you want with Abby?' Lincoln glared. 'Pure blood! Y-you're both pure bloods!' Isaac exclaimed. His step moving backwards with every word he uttered. Lincoln gently passed Abby to Dylan who quickly held her tight. Abby hide her head in his naked chest and tried to gain comfort from his fast breathing. 'Isaac, calm down.' Lincoln said and stood up. He towered over the red eye and it made him look even more intimidating. 'N-no...what are pure bloods doing here? W-who are you?' Isaac asked. 'What were you doing with Abby?' Lincoln diverted another question at him. Why would Abby just listen to this guy and follow him this far away from their house. Isaac simply took something out of his back and showed it Lincoln. White chocolate. Lincoln rolled his eyes and sighed. Of course. Confectionary bribe...a Littles weakness. 'No way.' Isaac said which caught both Lincoln and Dylan's attention. 'You're those guys on the front pages of that magazine.' he exclaimed. Wow. The two elite vampires scrunched their brows in confusion, having never experienced being referred to as 'those guys' before and it was almost comical. 'Listen I don't know much about the high society world but from the two pages I've read, I think you two are in a lot of trouble.' Isaac chuckled slightly to lighten the mood, which made Lincoln even more angry. 'What do you want? Money? Fame?' Lincoln asked. 'Wow, that's kind of rude of you. Why would you assume just cause I'm a red eye all I care about is money?' 'Do you?' Lincoln sighed frustratingly. 'I do but that's not what I'm here for.' Isaac exclaimed dramatically. 'Well then, what do you want?' Dylan asked, rocking Abby in his arms to get her to calm down. He could feel her heart beating quickly through her chest and he was worried it would stress her out and make her sick. He didn't have enough of his materials with him to treat her if she does fall ill. 'I don't want anything, dudes. I just came to welcome you to the neighbourhood and I brought chocolates for the girl and cigarettes for you.' Isaac said and emptied his pockets to give Lincoln the two packs of cigarettes he got from his store. 'That's not necessary.' Lincoln said and turned around to go home. Dylan studied Isaac for a few more seconds before turning as well, following Lincoln. 'Wait!' Isaac called out which stopped them in their tracks. 'Are you guys really elites? I've never met an elite before. And she's a little! Are you her caretakers? Are you guys staying here for long? Forever?' Lincoln sighed out in frustration and walked over to Isaac before grabbing his shirt from the back and dragging him back to the house with them. 'We're gonna have a little chat, Isaac.' he said while ignoring Isaac's please to let him go.
