The next morning came with gloomy skies. Dylan woke up to dark clouds and rainy weather and immediately turned to Abby, worried that she may be too cold.
Most apartments and homes do not come with a heater as vampires do not generally get phased by the weather. But those with littles will often have a heater and a cooler installed to accommodate their little's temperature-sensitive bodies.
Which reminded Dylan that he would have to get that done immediately if Abby was going to be living with him for a while.
Dylan got out of bed and stretched slightly. He turned to check the clock and it was 7.30 am. Just in time to get ready and go to work. He decided it would be easier for him to get ready first before waking her up.
He stood up from bed and went directly into his bathroom and started brushing his teeth, washing his face, and everything else to get ready.
The shower was quick and took him less than 5 minutes to get out.
When he walked out of the bathroom, he saw Abby sitting up on the bed, with tears in her eyes.
'Good morning, darling. What's wrong?' Dylan said and walked over. He picked her up and held her close to his chest, hearing her rapid heartbeat.
'I thought you left.' Abby whispered and wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed tightly, as though he was about to run away.
Her cries were so soft that he barely heard her wake up at all.
'I'll never leave you. There's no need to cry.' Dylan said and caressed her head gently to calm her down.
'That's what daddy said and he left.' she replied into his chest.
Dylan felt like his heart just shattered into pieces.
'Abby, Lincoln didn't leave you. He's coming back.'
'When?'
Dylan didn't know the answer to that. All he could do was hug her tighter and slowly pat her back.
'Soon.' he simply said, planting a small kiss on her cheek.
He heard Abby sigh and he felt her fingers dig into his shoulders.
With a sad smile, he placed her on the ground.
'Are you okay with coming to work with me today?'
Abby nodded, looking down.
'Hey, cheer up. We'll have fun. You can be daddy's little assistant today.'
'What will I help you with?' she asked with furrowed brows. Lincoln normally never let her help with much. He prefers to do things for her while she sits back.
It made her slightly excited that Dylan was suggesting her to be of service.
'You can be my nurse. I have to visit some patients later on. Some Littles get scared of doctor visits, maybe you can be their friend and calm them down for me?' Dylan suggested with a smile.
Abby thought about it before a smile graced her lips.
'I can do that!' she exclaimed which made Dylan chuckle.
'Alright, then we have to go get you ready.'

After a quick shower and breakfast, the couple was in the car and ready to leave for the day.
Dylan had to go to the hospital first, which was a 30-minute drive from their apartment. He decided that he would drive himself to work that day for a little bit more freedom since he had Abby with him.
'Where are we going first?' Abby asked on the passenger's side.
She was dressed in a cute yellow raincoat that Dylan found in the suitcase of her clothes that was sent to his apartment last night by who he assumed to be the king.
They must have sent someone to pack Abby's belongings from Lincoln's penthouse and sent it over to Dylan's place.
She also had on matching boots that would protect her feet from the cold and wet ground. The rain was neither heavy nor light. Dylan made sure to bring a hat too to protect her head from getting soaked.
Underneath her protective coat was a cute brown dress that she insisted on wearing since it matched Dylan's brown trench coat that he usually wore for work. She thought since she was going to be his little nurse that it would only make sense for them to match in their attire. Dylan was happy that she was so excited about this small job. He was glad that at least it's good enough to distract her from the whole Lincoln situation.
'I have to go meet my mother first. And then we can go meet our first patient. You're okay with that, right?'
'Your mother is scary.' Abby said softly. Remembering the short encounter she had with Eden back when they went to meet Dylan in his other home. The woman had a cold and fierce demeanor, which confused her since Dylan seemed to be the complete opposite.
Dylan chuckled softly. 'She's just a little strict. But she has a good heart.'
Dylan didn't know if that was true now. He had always thought of his mother as having a good heart. But after learning about what had happened with Lincoln and his family, his statement seemed a little questionable.
The rest of the ride was quiet, with neither of them saying much and just enjoying the silence.
————————————————————-
It took them about 45 minutes to finally reach the main hospital due to slight traffic. Abby was good the entire ride which didn't surprise Dylan since she had always been a very tolerant little.
'We are here.' Dylan said as he turned into his private parking. He noticed his mother's car as well parked by the entrance as well as his father's. Cooper Folley was the Vice President of the Folley Medical Center as well as The Folley Group and he handles the business side of things when it comes to their company.
Dylan wasn't close with his father for obvious reasons and he could count on one hand the number of words he has spoken to that man in the six months. They keep their distance for good reason. Even though Dylan was over Will and didn't care anymore about their relationship, he was still angry at what his dad did to him.
It was unforgivable.
'Is this where you work?' Abby asked as she peered out the window to see a few cars parked around theirs. The car park was brightly lit with nice cars around. She figured it was a staff car park since there were names on the parking spots.
'Yeah, but we won't stay here for long. Just awhile. Let's go.' Dylan opened the door. He plans to get this over with as quickly as possible. Whatever it is his mother had to say about Lincoln, he did not want to hear. She had no right to be mad at them after what she did to lincoln all those years ago.
Abby opened the door and pushed it, letting out a soft grunt at the heavy metal.
'Are you okay? Do you need my help?' Dylan asked quickly.
'No, I got it!' Abby said excitedly and jumped down from the car and on the floor.
'Good job, honey. You got down all by yourself.' Dylan reached to the back and took his briefcase out. Abby giggled and joined him on the other side of the door before taking his hand.
Dylan bent down to remove her raincoat and hat since they would be indoors and do not need them. He tosses them into his car and smooths out her hair and dress, making her look tidy.
'You ready?' he asked which Abby nodded.
Holding her hand tight, he walked up to the entrance where he used his key card to unlock the door and entered the building.
Upon entering, Abby felt the warmth touch her skin. It was raining outside which made the temperature drop a lot, but the hospital was nicely heated.
As she looked around, it seemed that the floor was empty with only an elevator and a desk where a security guard sat. The floors were polished very nicely to where she could almost see her own reflection. On the opposite end, there were big windows where the gloomy sky could be seen.
'Good morning, Doctor Folley.' the security guard greeted with a bow before standing up and going to press the elevator button.
'Morning. Thank you.' Dylan said before taking his phone out and checking his messages for the day. Abby noticed the guard staring at her which she felt self-conscious about. He had bright red eyes like Princess's daddy. But wasn't as handsome.
Slowly she hid behind Dylan and held his hand tighter which caught his attention.
'Yeah, baby?' he whispered, looking away from his phone for a short while before going back to it.
'Nothing.' she whispered back but continue hiding from the prying gaze of the man. She swung back and forth on her feet in nervousness, not knowing what to do.
'Is she a patient of yours, doctor?' the man asked after a moment of silence.
'Excuse me?' Dylan turned to the guard with raised eyebrows.
'I apologize, I didn't mean to pry.' he quickly said and took a step back, looking down.
The three stood in silence while waiting for the elevator to arrive. Dylan took the time to reply to some of the unanswered messages that he missed while he was gone. A lot of his patience was questioning where he had gone to and why he had missed their scheduled checkups for their littles. He didn't want to give away too much and simply replied with an excuse that he was out of town for an important matter.
Dylan scrolled through his phone and saw Lincoln's name. Did Lincoln even have his phone with him? He had only seen Lincoln use the landline when they were in the cottage. He must have been instructed not to use any device that could be tracked.
He wanted to contact the Prince, to ask how he was doing. But he wasn't sure if Lincoln would even get the message.
Plus, he didn't know what to say. Maybe reassure him about Abby? Or ask how he was doing. But the answer to that was pretty obvious. Lincoln was devastated to have to part ways with Abby and he could only imagine what he was going through right now.
Dylan hoped he was -
'He is my daddy.' Dylan's thoughts were interrupted by his Littles small voice.
Abby peeked out behind Dylan's frame and looked at the security guard.
The guard looked shocked for a second before smiling.
'He is very lucky.' he replied nicely, which made Abby smile. Dylan chuckled softly before the elevator door finally opened.
'Have a good day, sir.'
'You too.'
'Goodbye.' he said and waved at Abby who waved back before following Dylan into the elevator.
Dylan felt a small smile graze his lips. It felt nice for Abby to acknowledge him like that. He didn't answer the guard because firstly, it was none of his business, but also it was the first time that he was really in public alone with Abby and he was nervous. He didn't know how to really keep her safe or any of that.
After a few minutes, the door finally opened and it revealed a big office.
Abby's jaws dropped at the sight in front of her. The wall in front of her had long windows stretched out from the ceiling to the ground and it covered the entire wall.
The office gave off a minimal feeling with only a desk in the middle and a seating area by the corner and nothing else. The interior was modern with white and silver being the main colors. The floor was similar to the floor downstairs where it was made of perfectly polished marble and reflected everything above it. It almost felt like they were walking on water.
'Mother.' Dylan greeted first.
At his voice, Abby finally looked ahead and saw a lady standing by the window, her arms crossed with anger evident in her green eyes.
