FLASHBACKS
A thick layer of cold air filled the air, hinting at rain. The forest made a soft sound as the sky darkened, and the leaves shook when the first raindrops appeared. In the middle of the woods, I heard gunshots that sounded like thunder in the damp air.
Oliver ran as fast as he could. He struggled to breathe as the rain drenched him, making him feel cold. His arm was on fire in pain, but he had to keep going. I couldn't stop moving forward. Not now.
Angry voices echoed through the trees behind him.
"There! Here he comes! Don't let him get away!"
Oliver kept going; he felt his legs shake from the effort. Everything around him seemed to fade away, and each step became a struggle. The blood on his arm was warm and sticky, dripping down and mixing with the rain.
His heart was beating so fast that it felt like it might explode.
He saw a large tree trunk and hid behind it, hoping to catch his breath. He pressed his hand against the wound as he panted.
He muttered a curse under his breath.
With his eyes wide open, Oliver carefully removed a small pistol with a silencer from his jacket. As the figures approached, he took aim at them.
The first man was completely surprised by what happened.
A soft As soon as he heard the sound, the man collapsed, his eyes wide with shock.
More people are now talking, and they seem to be on edge.
One of them is carrying a silenced weapon," someone whispered.
Oliver's heart beat faster when another shadow appeared; another gunshot resulted in the loss of yet another life.
Two remained.
The heavier one growled a curse, speaking in a low and frustrated tone.
We can tell he's here! Find him!"
The liver tumbled down the slope, feeling every bit of pain. Every step I took was painful. I noticed that his awareness was fluctuating.
He experienced a sense of complete loss. This may be the conclusion.
He closed his eyes and waited for what was about to happen.
At that moment, he heard a rustling sound.
Opening his eyes, he noticed a young woman carefully walking through the trees.
She raised a finger to her lips, signalling that everyone should remain silent.
She was almost there, her face showing a calm sense of urgency.
"You're in pain," she said, giving me a small pill.
Oliver's eyes grew sharper, and he became increasingly suspicious. He took her arm and pulled her toward him, twisting her body until she was lying on the ground.
"What is your name? What brings you to this place?"
At that moment, the forest felt colder and more dangerous. Even so, she did not appear to be afraid.
Her voice became quiet and steady. I am here to assist you. If you don't let go, you'll die.
As he lost more blood, his grip grew weaker, and his body became too weak for him to survive.
She moved him aside softly and looked around. Two men were approaching.
With a calm mind, she took two darts and a deep breath.
She threw both darts with outstanding accuracy as soon as the men appeared.
Their cries echoed through the forest as they fell to the ground, suffering.
She looked at Oliver and smiled gently.
You should feel lucky that we met.
She removed his wet coat to see that he had new wounds. A bullet went through his shoulder blade, and another just grazed his right arm.
She placed her fingers on his wrist and furrowed her brow.
She swiftly took out a set of silver needles from her bag. She started acupuncture at the right points, which helped to stop the bleeding.
Eventually, the pace of the crowd slowed down.
She carried him to a clearing, opened her medical bag and took out the bullet.
She wrapped the wound tightly with a handkerchief.
Oliver moved, slowly opening his eyes as the pain became less intense.
The gentle voice told him, "You'll be fine."
He blinked, feeling confused. For a brief moment, the woman looked like an angel sent to help him.
She saw that his eyes were empty and noticed a small c***k at the corner of his cheek.
A mask.
He didn't look like the real person she knew.
Her curiosity overcame her, leading her to attempt its removal.
The loud whirring broke the silence of a helicopter.
Startled, she paused momentarily. This man was a mystery, surrounded by danger she did not fully grasp.
She quickly packed her things and put a backpack on her shoulders.
Before she left, she gave Oliver a small bottle.
She whispered, "There is poison inside you." "Use this medicine if the pain comes back."
She disappeared into the trees without saying another word.
Oliver tried to grab her, but she was already fading away.
He was no longer able to hold on.
He relaxed, watching the woman disappear from his sight.
The rain kept coming down.
---
Years passed; Oliver kept looking for answers.
As he passed through cities and forests, he could sense the woman's presence, as if it were guiding him.
Then, as if sent from above, she reappeared.
His angel.
The woods were peaceful, but he could not forget the rainy day.
He was very close to dying.
But her hands stopped him from falling.
As he stood on the brink of a new adventure, Oliver realized that fate had a lot to do with their lives.
He was determined not to let her leave him this time.
