LOCATION: 30 Miles North Frost Edge pack, Yellow Stone Valley.
TIME: 2000, Summer.
Thaddeus Aurelius walked into his late father's chambers with a glint of mischief written on his face as he forged towards the empty throne pondering on the pressure and the task involved in assuming his late father's position.
The interior decoration of the chambers was immersed in glory. It was graciously filled with luxury. The walls were painted gold, and fluorescent lights shone on an ivory ground, the shiny walls, the ceiling, and the glittering chandeliers were hung on the gigantic high ceiling, as the glass window view of both sides reflected his high-profile figure.
The throne was filled with history as it had been there, in that position for ages, with past alphas becoming worthy legends. Everyone in the pack had the desire to sit on it deep in their hearts.
He gazed at the artistic craft of the throne, the Frost Edge wolf crest embedded on the head of the seat, and the wolf sculpture that towered on both sides of its handle, as it was filled with a sense of graciousness.
“You can't sit on the throne, at least not yet.” A voice chimed from behind as he spun, alert at the presence of his mother, Luna Freda, walking behind.
She was dressed in her trademark blue royal gown which had the wolf crest of the Frost Edge pack covered in gold linings, as she approached him with utmost elegance. Her eyes— were blue and radiant, and her curly hair which was gray flowed down to her waist.
She was the only member of her family who was still by his side and one of the few he knew was loyal to him.
Thaddeus bowed down with a pose, as a sign of respect towards his mother as his chin rose, “Good day mother, I'm glad you are up, you look so healthy, I'm sure you had a good night of rest,”
“Of course I did, my son” His mother smiled broadly. Thaddeus took after his mother's facial appearance, through in-depth insights, one could tell. Her royal gown was lit as it shone radiantly. A sense of graciousness is the right figure of speech in describing her appearance.
Her curly gray hair swerved down to her waist as she walked towards the balcony of her late Alpha's chambers with a look of determination, her high profile stood, gazing at the break of dawn. As Thaddeus followed her lead.
Silence blanketed the atmosphere, this went on for some minutes as Thaddeus’ eyes glistened, “You look worried mother, is there anything you want to say?”
“I know how badly you want to be the Alpha of Frost Edge and sit on the throne,” Freda said as she faced his direction. “But owning that throne requires you to have a Luna by your side” she continued.
“The moon goddess has revealed who she is but locating her seems to be the problem….. And I” Thaddeus said his words breaking, his expression showing a mood of sadness
“If you are really ready to sit on the throne then prove it, your late father wherever he is wouldn't be proud to see you wailing, you must act,” She commanded, as she counter-attacked his reply.
“This is your task, take this as a responsibility she has given to you, it is your duty to find her” She continued
“If you want to be the Alpha, then you need to start acting like one, make research if she is in another world, why not find a sorcerer, a witch, or a spiritual being with magical powers who could help you locate her and get her.” Freda declared.
“But why go through all this stress when I could just sit on the throne” Thaddeus queried.
“The way of the gods is strange my son, it is the will of the moon goddess,” his mother's reply was stern.
“Your words are filled with wisdom, Mother, I'll take my leave now,” he bowed as he spun striding out of his mother's presence and out of the chambers, he couldn't argue with his mother as it could be seen as a sign of disrespect, but he frowned as he walked, an expression that made it obvious that he was angry.
“Curse the moon goddess,” he snarled, as he walked away.
His heart was filled with rage like wildfire as he couldn't hold off his anger.
Located just a distance from the throne was a huge oak tree, it had been present ever since from the time of his ancestors, its leaves and branches were as wide as the sky itself. This was one place he went to clear his head, to put his thoughts and ideas together, as he stood there, staring at the aurora displaying in the night sky.
He was lost in thoughts as he tried to pick the points from all his mother had said. He was consumed by his uncontrollable anger which brought the urge to shift into his wolf form. His lips chimed open as his lungs wallowed, and a long-drawn ear-deafening howl sounded in the open air.
The oak tree shook and its leaves danced all to the duration of his howl as a whirlwind swept down from the North right out of the sky and descended on him.
His royal attire fell as the wind was relieved. He howled again in his wolf form which seemed to be a dark-furred wolf with silver eyes, his ferocious howling shook the ground as it uprooted the leaves of the oak tree, so loud it could be heard from miles away.
Suddenly, a masculine voice broke out from behind.
“Letting your anger take hold of you isn't a good way to strive through this. Shifting into your wolf form won't make you the Alpha, it doesn't solve this problem either.” the voice uttered, standing behind him.
“Yeah, you are right, it's just that every negative feedback I have gotten so far about my Luna has instantaneously heightened my anger to the brim, I had to turn,” Thaddeus replied as he transformed back to his human form— stark naked.
“Every time I see you in this position, I just know something is wrong, so what new information have you gotten?” the voice asked as he turned back to see the face of Marcus, his childhood friend, a tall figure, he had deep brown eyes and curly black hair, his expression as bright as daylight itself.
“None, The moon goddess has given me a quest that seems difficult to comprehend, locating my Luna has become too big a task to handle” Thaddeus muttered, “as I am beginning to get frustrated,” he said in a ferocious tune.
“Get dressed, I think I have a solution to your problems” Marcus his close friend uttered.
“What” Thaddeus exclaimed, puzzled and consumed with excitement from what Marcus had uttered. He was willing to give him a benefit of a doubt, as Marcus has always been true to his words and has never disappointed him before.
But before he could hear what he had to say next, his expression darkened all of a sudden, their attention was drawn by a loud explosion that sounded from miles away, he could tell it was coming from the city's center, as they gazed at the fire illuminating the night sky, the one that convinced them that danger was ahead.
“What am I looking at?” Thaddeus asked, as his eyes widened in curiosity.
