"What the heck?” Amy shot Brent a threatening look, clearly not up for any games, but Brent pressed on.
“You know, you signed that contract handing over the whole shebang to me,” he casually dropped the bomb.
It hit her like a ton of bricks. That explained why he nudged her to keep drinking – he was out to exploit her notorious hangovers.
Amy was floored. She had poured everything into the company – time, energy, ideas – and now, it was all slipping away.
April sensed trouble and trailed Amy and Brent into his swanky office.
“Oh no, no, no,” Amy felt her world crumble again, and April rushed to her side.
“What the hell did you do?” April's anger burned into Brent.
He justified buying out Amy’s share, claiming it was for the good of the business. At that moment, Amy regretted ever trusting him.
April listened keenly to Brent's excuses, connecting the dots. “I can't believe you'd pull this on her,” April scolded. “You were supposed to be the one person she could trust, and you betrayed her. What's wrong with you?” April snapped.
Amy couldn't find the words. Instead, she mustered the strength to leave his office. April followed, offering support through the elevator ride.
On the ground floor, April turned to Amy. “You'll be fine, Amy,” she reassured. “We'll get a lawyer and fix this. That jerk won't get away with it.”
Amy managed a weak smile. Grateful for April's support, she vowed not to surrender the fruits of her hard work to Brent.
A few months later, at Huntley Corp;
Adrian sat at his desk with a frown on his face. His fingers tapped rapidly on the wood surface of the desk. He had bags under his eyes and a severe headache due to the stress. He had a deadline fast approaching and the pressure to deliver was crushing him.
Maybe I should listen to Liam and get an assistant, he thought .Adrian had worked hard to get where he was, despite being the son of the chairman he’d focused on contributing a lot to this company and his hard work paid off as he proved to everyone that he was deserving of the title of CEO of the company not just because he was the chairman’s son. He teamed up with his most loyal colleagues, and they nailed it with some big wins for the company.
But, you know how it goes in his line of work – people can be cutthroat to get ahead. So, he always had to watch his back.
Even his most loyal employees would sometimes engage in office politics and try to get themselves ahead in the company. Adrian faced the challenge of keeping everyone on track and preventing minor issues from messing with their progress.
To keep things in check at the office, he stayed sharp, always watching for any signs of disloyalty or deceit. He decided that granting open communication within the company would be ideal and encouraged his employees to voice out any problems they might have. However, he was always wary of those who might be hiding something.
Being the CEO of a company is such a very demanding job and Adrian who refused to hire an assistant was overcome with stress.
As Adrian was busy contemplating all his life choices, the door to his office opened, and a man walked in with a nonchalant smile on his face. “Adrian, man, you look terrible,” Liam exclaimed, a concerned look forming on his face as he took a seat across from him.
Liam was Adrian’s closest friend and confidant, they had been friends since childhood as Liam was betrothed to Adrian’s sister
Adrian sighed, “It’s been a long week Liam. I’m just trying to keep up with everything.”
Liam nodded in agreement. “I get it, man, but you need to take a break. You’re going to drive yourself crazy if you keep going like this.”
Adrian shook his head, “I can’t Liam, there’s too much riding on this project. I need to keep pushing through.”
Liam leaned forward. “Listen to me, Adrian. You’re no use to anyone if you’re burnt out. Let’s go out tonight, blow off some steam, clear your head.”
Adrian hesitated for a moment, considering Liam’s offer. He knew he needed a break, but was reluctant to let go of control. Finally, he relented, “Alright fine. But don’t try to get me to drink. I have to wake up early”
“What? But drunk Adrian is the fun Adrian. Besides, it’s the weekend tomorrow. Who works on weekends?” Liam protested.
“I do,” Adrian said pointedly, earning an eye roll from Liam.
“Alright, f**k it. You can just be my wingman inst-“ Liam started to say before he was cut off by Adrian with a simple “No”
“Fine, be the mysterious brooding guy by the bar. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother,” Liam murmured under his breath, standing up to leave in mock frustration.
The stressful day finally ended and soon, Adrian and Liam headed to a bar as they had previously planned. In the softly lit ambiance of the bar, where laughter blended with the soothing background music, people engaged in lively conversations, bartenders skillfully prepared drinks contributing to the overall social atmosphere with clinking glasses and occasional cheers. The bar had a rustic theme, providing a perfect space for individuals to unwind, socialize, and create lasting memories. Although Adrian was reluctant, he couldn’t deny that he needed this.
They had a few glasses before Liam decided to try his luck with the ladies, leaving Adrian to himself.
Adrian could already feel himself begin to relax, after the stressful day he just had, this change of pace was most welcome. However, he couldn't shake off thoughts about work.
Adrian, just chilling on his day off, sat at the table feeling a bit bored. He glanced around the bar and caught Liam deep in a flirty chat with a girl at the counter, sharing laughs and good vibes.
Shaking his head in disapproval, Adrian continued scanning the bar until he spotted her.
Seated at the bar, she stood out despite her casual attire, appearing like she was trying to draw something in her drink. Her dark brown eyes sharply contrasted with her pale face, and her lips were full, coated in shiny lipstick.
Her hair fell loosely on her shoulders, it’s brown curls framing her face perfectly.
He reached for his drink, taking a careful sip to avoid becoming Liam's jokes. Meanwhile, Liam was enjoying himself with some ladies who were eager to dance with one of the eligible bachelors. Despite Liam's attempts to drag him onto the dance floor, Adrian dismissed the idea, leaving the disappointed girls behind.
This mysterious girl with a glass in her hand seized the moment, stepping onto the dance floor. Her flowy dress followed the rhythm as she danced, sliding her foot back and then the other forward. The music worked its magic on Adrian, lifting his mood, and he found himself captivated by the cute girl on the dance floor. Although hesitant at first, he couldn't resist stealing glances as she danced perfectly to the beat.
As the song played on, Adrian's initial resistance crumbled. Liam, noticing Adrian's improved mood, insisted they hit the dance floor. After a couple of invitations, Adrian finally agreed. He pulled the girl close, her back against his chest, running his hands on her soft skin as he savored the scent of her hair. They danced surprisingly in sync with the rhythm, and Adrian, despite his initial reservations, was amazed by the experience. He gently rested his hands on her petite waist, synchronizing their hip movements as they swayed side by side. In one hand, she held a drink, while the other attempted to tidy her hair, as if she desired a glimpse of the man behind her.
It seemed Amy's attention was on the booze and she appeared totally unaffected by his gentle touched and he was amused. "ha he uttered arrogantly shaking his head wondering what type of girl she is and what made her drink like that.
The dance unfolded like a scripted masterpiece, capturing everyone's attention. Liam regretted not seizing the moment to have something to playfully tease Adrian about.
April, sensing the potential for things to get out of hand, decided it was time to leave. She dragged her away before Adrian could collect her number, leaving Adrian both amused and somewhat disappointed at the missed opportunity.
"Will Amy remember their most iconic dance at the bar, and will they ever meet again?"
