“Of course, I’ve not forgotten.” He nodded, “Very good.” Entering Sun’s formal dining room gave me my first glimpse of the man’s elaborate estate. I’d seen ones like it in Hong Kong, with a tiled roof, natural timbers and a stern but graceful Oriental design. It reflected the gentility of this quiet universe, this strange land unknown to me. I was captive here, its victim, and an unknowing participant in a scheme that was entirely unexplained to me. The simplicity of my surroundings must have settled my tattered nerves because I moved with ease into the dining room almost feeling as if it were a privilege to be there.
