Chapter 51

Massy sat with her nerves on high. Two flights and a bus ride she was in the Olympic Village of Rio De' Janeiro. This wasn't her first time in Brazil but it was her first Olympics. Rain poured over the city for no longer than ten minutes yet the sun still shined. Hundreds of years of rich Portuguese culture flowed through every crack and corner of a country that the media had called 'Ground Zero' only displaying the disease, pollution, and violence for several months. The Olympic Games would be Brazil's redemption. Athletes of all shapes, shades, and sizes from every dot on the map, from countries you didn't even know existed. Some of them having up to five hundred athletes representing it and others as many as three. "We are officially in Rio! Two flights to get here. Unfortunately we've been here for six hours and I've only seen the inside of a office building because I've been in meetings all day." Massy multitasking skills to work. Walking, talking, and holding a camera in front of her face as expected her and several other athletes had been contacted by uninterrupted the popular first person videos allowed fans to get a real life experiences and the real words from their favorite athletes like LeBron James and Ronda Rousey, even Odell appeared several times with his own videos. This time it would be Massy to document her experience throughout the Olympics. "But! it's all worth it because there will be a gold medal around me neck in like three weeks!" Athletes poured into the city by the sport, each one being registered as they came. Large laminated badges with their photo, name, country, and sport. With the highest head count 558 total athletes would represent the United States. Massy looked down at the multiple pieces of paper she held in her hand all filled with game day and practice days free time to explore Rio was very slim but Massy didn't complain. "I feel like we're back in college!" Kristie said fluffing her pillow and leaning back. Massy opened her eyes and looked around. "These rooms are a little... freshman dorm-ish." Both women looked around the small two person room decked out in modern white furniture that looked like it could of came from IKEA. Their stuff already scattered across the room, suitcases laid open with clothing hanging from the sides, their team USA uniforms hung from hooks on the back of their door. Kristie looked over at Massy, her thought process changed as she looked down at her left hand. "That's a long time coming from Devin." Massy frowned and looked in her direction, following her eyes she also looked down at the ring. "Ha, yea... I think I've done pretty well for myself." She raised her hand and looked at the ring. "So when is this happening." Kristie asked referring to the wedding. Massy went silent, she pressed her lips together and her eyebrows turned inward. "I don't know... I mean I was planning earlier but I guess I just got... Kind of scared... Not scared to marry him... But, scared of marrying him too young." Massy shook her head but continued looking at the diamond. "Engaged at 23, married at 25 kids by 26, 27, then completely divorced and hating one another by 30." Kristie laughed and shook her head. Massy looked over and added a giggle. "I've seen it happen. It's scary." The room went silent again, Kristie chewed the inside of her cheek. "Do you and Odell talk about kids?" The question was random, and Massy wasn't sure why she even asked it. "Yea... Actually he talks about having kids with me all the time." She confirmed with a from, still confused. "Then you have nothing to worry about." "What does that have to do with anything?" Massy asked. "My mother always says. If a man can openly talk about truly WANTING kids with you, let alone want to marry you, then you have nothing to worry about." Kristie said, she then laid her body down further on to the bed making herself comfortable under the sheets. Massy chewed the inside of her cheek again. The purpose of Man was to spread himself as far as Kingdom could go, to conquer all he could. Kristie made a notion that Massy had never thought of. If Odell was willing to settle down and have as many children as she could bare then why would she have anything to worry about. The only thing Massy could only hope her and Odell's communication grew the older they got. "Dude spent his whole summer talkin about me... Like why? The whole summer tho!? Like every interview he did he said he was done talkin about me after that, but here we are." Odell pressed his lips together and frowned. The recent comments Josh made about Odell being a target throughout the league seemed more funny to Odell than anything else. "You think coach going to have you playing slot?" Brad asked looking at Odell. In hopes of keeping the friction between the two men as less as possible, their had been talks that Odell would play the opposite end of the field from Norman, while Cruz and Shepard stayed on the other end giving Norman the opportunity to guard one them. Odell shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know? If that's what gets us a win then that's what needs to happen. If he wants to get out there and act like uh asshole than that's on him, but I'm not doing the same s**t I did last year, that's out." "You need anger management?" Brad asked through his laughing. Odell cracked a smile. "I need my girl." He said shaking his head. "It hasn't even been a full two days yet." Brad said with a frown. "I know... All I keep thinking about is not having s*x for three weeks." Odell looked around the semi busy restaurant making sure no one heard what he was saying. By now Odell and Brad were use to being the center of attention, groups of people filed in line coming from late night partying in hopes of soaking up the alcohol that was already sloshing around in their stomachs with french fries and over sized burgers or pizza slices that were larger than a one bedroom apartment in New York. Brad covered his smile with his hand and shook his head, Odell remained still his smile turned to a frown showing just how frustrating the current situation was. A pair of young kids stood in a corner booth filming the two Giant's players in excitement. When does she get back?... A month is a pretty long time... Now that I think about it."  "Like the 17th... I feel bad because I want them to lose so she comes home like on the 12th but I don't want them to lose because I want her to get a medal." Odell shook his head. "But I want them to lose..." "She's not even there the whole month, you make it seem like she's gone for a year. It's literally 17 days." Brad's Australian accent become thicker as he spoke not understanding Odell's frustration. Odell kept his eyes on the large menu of food the restaurant offered. "That's a long time, especially when you're use to your d**k being wet every other day." Both men went silent Brad stared at Odell for a moment. "You're disgusting." Odell kept his position, unbothered by his best friend's comment. "I know... God know my heart tho."
