A vacation didn't stop Massy from training and it never did. After taking photos with LSU athletes who begun returning to the workout facility to began their own training for the fall preseason she continued her own workout with Heather. A mixture of the GQ preview and Odell's trip to Germany seemed to be of importance at the moment filling Massy's phone with Google alerts.
"Since when is he so talkative!?" Massy spoke to herself while looking down at her phone reading over the article she picked out randomly.
Heather looked up concerned. "What?"
"Your son. He just giving all the tea all of a sudden." Massy said standing up and handing Heather her phone.
Heather was silent for a moment squinting at the phone screen. "He's stingy about his laundry detergent?!" She asked scrunching up her face as if that was what was really important.
Massy shrugged. "Probably... I mean if it ain't about football or any other sport the man refuses to talk." It was clear that Odell had made a name for himself and Kobe was right. Odell was boring and that's the way Odell liked it. The less people knew the less trouble he got in.
"Well can you blame him." Heather said defending her oldest child. She then looked back down to continue reading the article.
"The August issue of GQ has finally landed on shelves and with chit chat of Odell Beckham Jr being shirtless at some point in the magazine you'd understand our excitement too. From a man that is so silent off the football field that you can't even get him to tell you what kind of laundry detergent he uses, it was extremely surprising to finally hear him talk about something other than 'the catch' He even went as far as to explain how the Khloe Kardashian dating rumors messed up his personal life.
Odell may still be getting adjusted to fame after exploding onto the NFL scene in 2014 as a rookie for the New York Giants. Finding that out the hard way in late May when he was photographed talking to Khloe Kardashian at a pool party thrown by buddy and rapper Drake. Photos of the two made their way to TMZ Sports, and within 24 hours, they were everywhere and everyone assumed Odell and Khloe were the newest celebrity couple.
Khloe eventually had to take to to her Twitter to set the recored straight on what TMZ claimed to be a new relationship.
Unfortunately Khloe's confirmation to having nothing going on with Odell didn't stop the wide receiver from having to deal with some headaches from the rumors. He is the main focus of a feature story in the August issue and while speaking to GQ editor Devin Gordon, he talked about the photos that emerged from the party and said he was confused by the dating stories.
"Whoever was there taking the pictures inside of a private party, inside of a private-er area of the house—we were in the kitchen of the house, where there was only like 15 people. It's just kind of like...'dating'?" he said. "I just met this person. This is maybe the second conversation we've had."
He then went on to suggest that the photos may have affected a relationship he was in at the time. (assuming his rumored girlfriend at that time, now his fiancé Pro Soccer player Massy Arias was not too happy about the photos.) "Things go like that," he said, "and then some other girl that I may have been talking to I have to explain to her about it, and now it's more drama, more commotion in my life. And I'm sitting here trying to explain my situation to somebody, and it's really not even a situation."
The two time Pro Bowl player didn't stop there he finally touched in-depth on his now-epic rivalry with Josh Norman that started in Week 15 of the 2015-16 NFL season after the two wrestled and fought on the field multiple times in the middle of a Panthers/Giants game. The outspoken Norman continued his war of words on social media and interviews throughout the offseason while Beckham took a more silent approach and ignored him.
But not this time. With the season approaching in just weeks it is very clear that Odell is now ready to take shots at his rival. At one point during the interview, Odell said he "for sure" thinks Norman only signed with the Redskins so that he could be guaranteed at least two matchups against him every season. Odell said he sees it as a "smart business move" on Norman's part and says it will help keep Norman "relevant."
"If I wasn't playing him twice a year, maybe people wouldn't bring it up as much," Odell told GQ. "But now it'll be a lot more media attention for him, attention that I don't look for, attention I don't need, I don't care for it. I didn't care for it then and I don't care for it now. People always wondered why I was so silent when he was so loud it's because I don't care for that type of hype. The reason that he's become so relevant is because of me."
More fighting words from OBJ? Yup. Norman hasn't gotten wind of them yet, but we're sure he will soon so keep an eye on his Twitter feed. And just in case you don't already have it circled, the first Giants/Redskins game of the season will take place on September 25. We'll definitely be watching."
"Mom, you think I should go to UCLA?" Jasmyne asked calmly shoving a chip into her mouth.
"Excuse me?" Heather looked up at her with wide eyes.
"Massy can take me on a visit." Jasmyne looked down in the large bag of chips as she volunteered Massy for the job. Heather looked over at Massy who tried to remain clueless to Jasmyne's sudden obsession with UCLA.
"Jaz the school year hasn't even started. You're only a freshman! College is not what you should be worrying about as of this very moment." Heather said frowning.
"Massy was being scouted her freshman year and she was a starter. Plus I heard UCLA has a really good volleyball program." Jasmyne spoke with confidence as she continued to calmly eat chips. Massy placed her sunglasses back on her face and looked off into the opposite direction wanting no parts of the conversation Jasmyne had stuck up.
Heather looked between Jasmyne and Massy. Massy shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. "Jaz, do you know how far UCLA is?" She nodded her head in confidence.
"Ok, so wait... Before this conversation gets deeper. She googled me or something because I didn't tell her none of this. I have nothing to do with this!" Massy said clearing her name from the discussion.
"It's on my top five colleges!" Jasmyne continued to add to her mother's surprise.
"Since when!?" Heather leaned forward.
"Since now, I've been doing research." Jasmyne shrugged her shoulders as if her mother should of known this. "We should set up a visit. I'm sure you'd love it too." Jasmyne assumed looking back into the large bag of chips. Heather frowned at her daughter in shock, then looked over at Massy for any signs of help. Massy turned her head as far as she could and looked off at the beautiful view of the lake. It was clear Massy had become an over night sensation to Jasmyne. Heather rolled her eyes at her sudden obsession.
"So you rather go visit UCLA than go to Brazil!?" Heather asked calmly throwing out the surprise.
Jasmyne looked up with wide eyes and went silent. "What!?... We're going to Rio?... Mom!" Jasmyne stood up in anticipation.
"Oh, no. We don't have time for Rio we've got to go visit UCLA." Heather leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes.
"MOM! OH MY GOSH!" Jasmyne tossed her arms around her mother's neck and squealed.
"WE..." Heather held up a index finger. "We will ONLY be there for the first week, to see the first two games that is it!"
Jasmyne's eyes grew as wide as they could. "Thank you! thank you! thank you!" She pulled herself from Heather then tossed her arms around Massy. "Thank you so much for talking her into it!" She squealed in Massy's face.
"You're welcome." Massy said laughing and wrapped her arms around Jasmyne's waist pulling her into a hug. She couldn't control her excitement. She pulled herself from Massy and grabbed her cell phone, her fingers worked across the screen faster than they ever did before.
"Now she's really gonna want to go to UCLA." Heather sighed while shaking her head.
Massy was silent for a bit as she watched Jasmyne text every number she had in her phone. "Well, I heard they have a really great volleyball program." Massy teased while leaning over her arm rest and getting closer to Heathers face.
"Oh girl! You better not!" Heather said laughing at Massy mocking Jasmyne's words.
